Currently doing Medical Physiology at University of Leicester but haven't made choices over where exactly I am applying but it will most likely be for the 4 year graduate courses.
Where are you applying and what course are you doing?

Me, hopefully if I don't mess up these exams. I'm doing biomed at the moment. Probably going to apply for Kings and Peninsula for grad, seeing as the other two look at you A levels and mine weren't what they require.

I'm doing Pharmacology at Leeds, will have graduates so hopefully that may give me an edge over people with predicted degrees gonna apply to Liverpool, Aberdeen, Peninsula & I'm gona decided between Kings & Queen Mary based on my UKCAT. I'd like to apply to an undergrad to be safe, but I can't afford it quite frankly.
And what's this about A levels for the other 2? I got AAB, hopefully thatll be alright!

Didn't you apply for Medicine? What made you change to Dentistry?
And yes, you'll need at a minimum 2 weeks general practice experience ... and anything else you do will be a bonus.
Leeds place a huge emphasis on work experience (type and duration), so if you're not able to get that much, maybe avoid them.

i didnt get into a medicine course when i initialy applied in 2010, since then i learned more about the career and lifestyle and decided dentistry was more well suited for me.

Same with me. Just trying to organize some type of work experience in a dental setting at the moment. Is it still possible to be considered without any experience in a general dental practice? All I will have in terms of dentistry experience will be one day with a max fax consultant (from when i did my medicine work experience) and some time at a dental lab. The rest of my experience comes from a weeks worth of shadowing doctors and 3 years+ working part time as a health care assistant. An earlier comment also said peninsula require you to have voluntary experience but I have none, only about 6months looking after a DoE group and a year mentoring students in school (does that count as the required voluntary?)

This summer after exams seems to be the only chance I can get to sort out work experience before applying. How are other undergraduates balancing uni and trying to get work experience?

I think they require 2 weeks minimum general dental practice experience. That's before they even consider you, most people have a lot more, with maxfax/orthodontic experience thrown in!

Most GEP schools will definitely expect you to have more than 2 weeks in general.

    Hi,

How many weeks experience did you do in general surgery? Is two weeks enough? What voluntary work did you mention in your application?

    Many thanks
