    Gingers
Why does having ginger hair go hand in hand with freckles and pinkish pale skin? Does the recessive gene which gives a person ginger hair also effect skin colour?

I mean ginger not redheard btw

In answer to your question, yes the recessive gene that affects hair pigment also affects skin pigment.

With that out the way; ginger girls can be well fit.

I wouldn't necessarily say ginger hair goes hand in hand with having freckles, but yes it has to do with recessive genes.

Suitably silly but original, I like
Even if it does make my username sounds like a recipe...

But, yes from what I understand the gene is linked to the pigmentation of the skin. It is recessive and only about 1 in 3 people the gene shows up. Explains why people like me, who have parents who are black haired, produce 2 ginger kids. That or we had a ginger milk man maybe...

Ginger hair is created through a pigmentation gene, and so is linked to fair or pale (depigmentated) skin. Its not a recent mutation, but originated with Neanderthals. Its limited to Caucasoids, particuarly of North-Western European descent.
