Re: Official AS/A Levels Thread/Results Day Thread 2012! (16th August 2012)well I do maths, physics, chemistry, further maths and economics. I don't really know which I enjoy more, I understood at the start of the year that if I want to do well, I have to force myself to enjoy the subjects and now I find them all equally interesting lol -.-(Original post by wibletg)
Don't have to pick one thing, a lot of degrees combine subjects
Maths and Physics and you like both? Do Engineering or a joint honours.
Maths, Physics AND Chemistry? Do Chemical Engineering (though there's not LOADS of Chemistry involved apparently!) -
Re: Official AS/A Levels Thread/Results Day Thread 2012! (16th August 2012)EEM at Oxford maybe? Or medicine?(Original post by Miryo)

Re: Official AS/A Levels Thread/Results Day Thread 2012! (16th August 2012)
Feeling pretty down today. A mutual friend of mine (we hadn't met but he was friends with my some of my best friends) was hit by a train and died. He was 18. Life is so **** and unfair.
Makes you appreciate that, ultimately, us worrying about whether or not we got an A in an exam is petty and insignificant. -
Re: Official AS/A Levels Thread/Results Day Thread 2012! (16th August 2012)Sorry to hear that(Original post by thompsonic7)

Re: Official AS/A Levels Thread/Results Day Thread 2012! (16th August 2012)Pretty good grounding for an Engineer(Original post by Miryo)

Nah, what are you leaning towards? -
Re: Official AS/A Levels Thread/Results Day Thread 2012! (16th August 2012)Yeah, I mean for me there's always the University of Life as an option.(Original post by thompsonic7)

Makes my problems trivial in comparison.

Re: Official AS/A Levels Thread/Results Day Thread 2012! (16th August 2012)haha, I have looked into everything I can tbh, I'm trying to organise an engineering work experience but for some reason, I can't see myself as an engineer.
I wouldn't mind being a doctor but its a lot of hassle, 5-6 years of med school, then a few years of sucking up to the senior doctors.
I do like maths quite a lot, so if I did that I could go into finance maybe, same with economics.
I'm guessing your an engineer? :P what do you like about the profession? -
Re: Official AS/A Levels Thread/Results Day Thread 2012! (16th August 2012)You don't really need to get work experience for engineering, it's difficult to do anyway IIRC(Original post by Miryo)

A lot of engineers don't actually go into engineering anyway, they get poached by banks, management consultancy firms etc.
I was in the same position as you last year, not a clue what I wanted to do, tempted by medicine for all the wrong reasons but hadn't done any works experience which is vital.
I'm not an engineer, not yet anyway
4 years of uni first.

Re: Official AS/A Levels Thread/Results Day Thread 2012! (16th August 2012)I imagine engineering will be like maths and physics but also like design & Tech, like resistant materials, i wasnt very good at that lol.(Original post by wibletg)

What were your reasons for wanting to do medicine? -

Re: Official AS/A Levels Thread/Results Day Thread 2012! (16th August 2012)
I have already finished my first year of university with a First class
So I am now in my year 2 , I was also in a similar situation as to yours last summer. But then in the end everything will be fine.

Re: Official AS/A Levels Thread/Results Day Thread 2012! (16th August 2012)
Just got back from the brother's graduation- I genuinely feel emotional about it and it hasn't sunk in just yet. That said, I now want to go to Exeter more than ever- every time I return to the campus I fall in love with it all over again
up until that day I will miss the university greatly.
Never been so proud of my brother though
Also had the most amazing meal after at "The Conservatory"
