Re: Official AS/A Levels Thread/Results Day Thread 2012! (16th August 2012)My "insurance" requires a grade B in French as part of my offer and I'm very unlikely to get that.(Original post by Smason5)
Possibly they have no other choices. Some of my friends even put insurances which had an higher offer than their firm, so no matter what they are not gonna go there. I would think better unis give higher offers but i guess thats not always the case.
My firm however gave me more freedom in my subjects in my offer - as long as I get a B or higher in Maths. -
Re: Official AS/A Levels Thread/Results Day Thread 2012! (16th August 2012)I didn't see this b4. Cambridge.(Original post by chignesh10)
Which university would that be? -
Re: Official AS/A Levels Thread/Results Day Thread 2012! (16th August 2012)O ok, so your firm has more flexibility. Thats cool. I just know that 1 of my friends has firm-AAB and insurance-AAA. This is suppose means that this is not really an insurance.(Original post by SecretDuck)

Re: Official AS/A Levels Thread/Results Day Thread 2012! (16th August 2012)O ok i see, so your firm has more flexibility. So do you prefer you firm university and it just happens that it has a easier offer or did you chose it for this reason. I didn't really think of it like that as my most offers my friends have dont really indicate the subject you must get the grades in. I just know that one of my friends firm is AAB and insurance AAA so its not really insurance.(Original post by SecretDuck)

I hope the college sends a letter to tell us when we can get our results... I don't want to turn up at 9:30 and be either overwhelmed with first years, look like an idiot because they've all packed up and gone home or look like an idiot because they don't open until 12

Re: Official AS/A Levels Thread/Results Day Thread 2012! (16th August 2012)Yep, I prefer QMUL over Kent. I liked the uni and course at QMUL more.(Original post by Smason5)

I take five A levels and Kent picked the three most relevant ones to economics - economics, Maths and french. That means that Russian (as a foreign language) and English Language are out. My firm offer is easier to meet than my insurance because of that subject specific offer.
Take more than three A levels and expect unis to be funny about it. Cambridge gave someone on TSR an offer of A*A*ABB - more difficult because of more subjects taken. That'll be my advice for prospective a level students next year as the five or more a levels question comes up every year.
