    Softly on a Summer morning
    Mist wraiths writhe and fade away
    Bare feet tread the holy greensward
    Sweetly welcoming the day
    Nut brown skin of lissom creature
    Moving on the ancient mead
    Here the dancer foots it featly
    Sets the vetches springing seed
    In this private invocation
    On the rabbit nibbled lawn
    None can touch the spirit dancer
    Shimmering in England's dawn
    'Til at last the lark ascending
    Sweetly shrives the newborn day
    Earthly measures now are ending
    Finished is the antick hay
