Whether you think cinema died with Hitchcock or only got good once Michael Bay started blowing up helicopters, this is the place where moving pictures are discussed.

Insidious wasn't particularly scary as a whole, but it does have a few jumpy parts. This one still gets me once in a while.

I didn't expect that! What happens straight after?

If you take 'pure horror' from any Evil Dead film something is going wrong. ;p
Are you sure we are talking about the same film?, because I seriusly doubt that. It came out 1988 or something :yhee it is old. As I said I watched it when I was kind of 10, 11 so it was scary at that time, but I don't know about now.

I dont get scared by films. my sisters fiance thinks im a weirdo as i watched rec on my own, in the dark at halloween with no problems and actually found it pretty amusing, whereas everyone he knows has found it really scary.
a lot of horror films i just find amusing, for example, with the grudge my friends mum looks like a cross between her and the girl from the ring, and she is so lovely i just cant take the girl seriously as a villain. my sister is a wuss though and finds films really freaky and cant watch a lot of horror films, though she is getting better and actually sat through silent hill the other day, which she swore she wouldnt do again, but as me and her fiance love it she decided to give it another go. i also got moaned at by my old work colleagues as i thought 30 days of night was hilarious so they watched it and it scared the crap out of them. iv also had a lot of fun freaking out my cousin with my 2 chucky dolls (when he has been sat in my room and gone to the loo i may have moved its head or arm, then denied it when he asked me).

though the only film i refuse to watch is stephen kings IT, mainly cos clowns are terrifying, but other than that i find most horrors hilarious.

Yes. I am quite sure we are talking about the same films. I don't see how their age is relevant.

Evil Dead is a humourous horror film. Evil Dead 2 is a full on comedy/horror. Army of Darkness is an comedy/action film.

I really don't see how anyone could find any of them scary. They're brilliant, not frightening.

Woman in Black really scared me. It was a brilliant Classic Horror and scary woman/faces is what scares me the most!

Poltergeist was my have scary movie when i was younger.
But The Ring was pretty epic when i was younger
ahh, there are a few, its more the ghosty/grudey ones that freak me out rather than gore/guts

I'm the exact same. When we were watching Paranormal Activity 2, I laughed at the bit where she was dragged down the stairs cos I thought "that must have done a number on her tits". My family were like ":lolwut:".

I love watching zombie films circa 1960-1980 and laughing at how bad the zombies are. My favourite one is this wee nurse zombie from Dawn of the Dead, she's a star. Oh, and Friday the 13th/Nightmare on Elm Street/Halloween franchises make me glow inside.

I think most modern horror movies are just full of ultra-violence or unrealistic plots. To me, a good horror movie is realistic as possible.

The only thing that made me kinda "" was The Last House on the Left, but that was more of a thriller.

Y'know I can't actually remember. Which is probably why I still got caught out with this scene even though Ive seen the film.

Insidious. Something about that red demon...
I'm not that much of a wimp, even. I love some Dario Argento. I think films like Suspiria have a beauty about them. Insidious just got inside my head. I guess it's because of the whole concept happening through sleep.

I plan to watch this. Is it as good/scary as people have said it to be?

To be honest, I'm really surprised that people have mentioned as one of the scariest films they've seen. I'm normally a massive wimp when it comes to scary films, but I didn't find it scary at all, apart from being a bit jumpy in places. The demon thing thats meant to be scary just looks incredibly fake, and I found the ending a bit ridiculous. Was an alright film, just not as scary as everyone is making out? Am I the only person who thought this!?

The video section on www.ballsack.org has real gore films, they don't bother me much but I guess the average person couldn't stomach it.

I meant Suspiria lol but I have to agree with you on Insidious. The beginning was good - it was mysterious, jumpy and the ghosts looked somewhat sinister but then it got straight up dumb towards the end especially with that old, psychic medium woman. Same with 'Drag Me To Hell' it had a similar 'sillyness' towards the end.

I checked out the trailer like 3 times but I still fail to see your point.
I think it is a great film considering the time it is made.

    The Descent
I'm not one to get scared easily might jump a little. This one really scared I think mainly because I can normally tell when something will jump out or whatever but in this the creature just randomly appeared it freaked me out that I turned the channel and stopped watching it I really want to finish it but I don't know if I can.

It's one thing saying you don't find horror films scary, but real life horror? I suggest you see a doctor, there's a reason the average person can't stomach it: horror is the natural reaction to seeing suffering, the only people who don't have a negative reaction are psychopaths, and those who are so desensitised and banalised their brain doesn't even see the real people in those images. I hope for everyone's sake you are the latter.

Tbh I enjoy scary films, and in fact I don't mind Hostel and the like because they aren't scary, just disgusting, but since they're fake I can laugh at some of the more obviously provocative stuff. But the thought of that stuff actually happening is enough to make me retch.

The Ring scared me but its because I was I think 13 at the time and was watching it in the evening. I can still remember the bit where she comes out of the TV!
