    Hi Liam,
Thanks for your comments - which aspects of 'Of Mice and Men' were you looking for specifically? Could you find examples that related to your title?
    .
I was looking for aspects related towards the theme of loneliness, friendship and dreams within the novel i found many essays related to each and was great help with providing me ideas for my controlled assessed essay it was a great help

Thanks for trying all of this out for us

We've now isolated the issue which means we can fix it because we know what/where the problem is. It's because the URL was http and it needs to be https (secure page) for the pass to work as it links to the secure payment system. It seems that this part was working fine then we updated it to fix another bug and this then altered the coding for the pass page so it stopped working as it should do. One of the dev guys has been working on recoding this area of the site today so we should have it up and running again by early next week. I'll let you all know when that happens via PM so don't worry. I'm really sorry... but then we did say that this was all about testing! :p:

Hope your controlled assessment goes well! I remember reading 'OMAM' when I was at school doing my GCSEs

To be honest, the first impression is quite good of the website. The layout is great and thumbnails work well with each other. The thing that provides the website uniquely is the statistics all around the website (hoping they're true!) and a realistic amount of essays available. It's clearly great because there are handwritten notes in the background with arrows, providing you information and gaining your attention to some parts of the website.

What I would work on is the bottom of the website itself. It looks a little bit like a mess, and can't get my eye around one thing - since it's trying to focus on everything available there. Try to be competitive, work on promotion and get known around. Get tags around google, work on page rank.

I love the way that it's not clustered and really easy to navigate around. The information is very useful as it can help loads of people like myself, to have a a better understanding of what is expected in our essays. I would surely be using this and highly recommend it to anyone. The feedback, comments and star rating is very rich. You guys have done a great job so far, keep it up as it's much appreciated

I found the site really good, it was easy to navigate and use. I also liked the fact that there is a search box so that you can search for the exact one essay or subject you're looking for. However I did see that when I searched for "An inspector calls" that in the title there were unnecessary character in there which it make it look unprofessional for example when I searched "An Inspector calls the first title was:

"How has your reading of J.B Priestley’s “ An Inspector Calls” been enhanced by Stephen Daldry’s production at the Garrick Theatre?"

you see what I mean?? and that wasn't the only title that it was on there were a few others as well. I really found the site interesting and very helpful. Thanks

It's a nice site - firstly, it looks great! The layout is really clear so it took me hardly any time to find essays relevant to my GCSE courses.

What I would like to see is essays awarded not only 1-5 star ratings but also estimated grades, as it can be hard to judge whether a 4 star rating would be a B or an A or something else, for example. Categorisation by covered exam specifications would also be useful, as when searching my topics I often had to filter through completely unrelated topics to my course.

Also, maybe branching out from purely essays to things such as revision notes, example planning mind maps for exam questions, and diagrams would be helpful.

All in all though, good job!

Thanks - which areas of the site were you looking at in particular?

The statistics are all true, yes.... unless all of the statistics that we've got coming out from the back end of the site are all false and therefore I've been spreading lies :p:

Can I ask which bit you're referring to by the bottom? Do you have a screen shot that you can attach? Just so that I can be sure of which section/page you mean when I pass this information on.

And yep, we're working hard on the google front at the moment, don't worry! I work in an office full of people who live their lives by SEO enhancing - it always amazes me that TSR is always top on google whatever I seem to google

Thanks for the feedback - can I ask which subject areas/levels you were looking at, please? Glad you think it will be useful for your revision and school work!

    Hiya,
I know what you mean with regards to the weird code in the middle of some of the search results (it's something we're desperately trying to resolve as I agree, it looks really messy) as this has been a consequence of some of the file transfers. However, with the example you've quoted, it looks like it makes sense to me because some kind of indication is required when mentioning a play/text name so students will often use "" or italics to denote this in their work. Or have I misunderstood you? Please clarify if I've not understood

Thanks for your thoughts here. We have deliberately avoided referencing to specific grades on Marked By Teachers. This decision was made due to the fact there are so many different exam boards with different marking criterion meaning what would be awarded an A in one exam board may only be awarded a C on another exam board if the candidate had failed to address other points on that exam board's specification or assessment objectives. It could be incredibly misleading for us to say "this would be awarded an A" because this may not be the case across the board.

Similarly, at university level, it is simply impossible to give definitive grade ratings due to the sheer difference in expectations between universities. This is why many of the markers at university level (all experienced script markers at undergraduate level) have often qualified their marking with "at my (Russell Group/Oxbridge/UK top 10) university this would have been awarded...." because this enables a student to contextualise the marking.

That makes sense. Maybe you could improve the rating by making it out of 10, then? This gives a lot more information, I feel, than a rating out of 5. (:

wow that is really weird I am sure when I copied and pastedthat quote there were different characters like that in there and there weren't any "" in there. I just rechecked just now and the characters are still there I am confused I think maybe them different characters make the "". I don't know. I'll try pasting it again.....

How has your reading of J.B Priestley’s “ An Inspector Calls” been enhanced by Stephen Daldry’s production at the Garrick Theatre?

Right I have pasted this and I can see the different characters

That is weird something is wrong it has changed again...... maybe you should check it out I typed in "An Inspector Calls" in the search engine and that was the first result that came up cuz I am really confused.......

I am very impressed by the site. I first went to the site looking for religious studies essays on suffering for my Philosophy exam. Unfortunately, when I typed "religious studies suffering" into the search box, it came up with lots of irrelevant essay on subjects other than rs. However, the narrowing down boxes down the side were a great help and soon I found a 3000 word essay on exactly what I was looking for. Overall, very easy to use and a great study aid.

I'm glad you were able to find something useful - that's really good that you found the search narrowing tools to be useful! I hope your exam went well if you have already taken it.

That's great - we know students are in the exam zone at the moment which is why it's a great time to ask for your help with testing.

Why in particular do you think it's a good site?
