My Paypal has been hacked, the internet equivilent of being mugged
I woke up to check my e-mails to discover a payment of 50 euros has been made to Frogster Online Gaming GmbH, support@frogster-online.com.

This is a gaming company I have never heard of or used, and I have never made any payment in Euros. Someone has hacked my account.

I have notified Paypal that this was an unauthorized payment, and changed my Paypal password. Are there any other steps or precautions I should take?

    Thanks

Never log into paypal from any emails you get sent would be one thing I would say

You could get some advice from your bank, they may be able to do something like right now. Give them a call, they should have a 24/7 number you can call.

    Scan your computer for keyloggers.

Did you go into your Paypal account and check the transaction was there?

take care, paypal are very bad at giving you your money back and these fraudsters are very good at what they do

Last year I had a similar incident where my account was hacked over night and 10 transactions took place, we involved paypal and the bank but every time we reset our password it was re-hacked. Eventually we realised they were intercepting emails from within our account (a hotmail account) and changing it themselves, we had to use a seperate email account to stop them

6 weeks later after paypal returned all our money (£360) which was proven to be ours by the police and bank the fraudster instigated a charge back via their credit card and paypal gave them all the money back!!!!!!!!

fortunately I had removed all our bank details from the account as I had no faith in paypals security so it was their money they gave away. Even so they then tried to det debt collectors on us. This went on for some months even though we had a crime number and bank evidence and eventually paypal closed our account even though we were the victims

Moral of the story, don't trust paypal! they will chew you up and spit you out in a heart beat even if your'e the victim.

You will almost definately get your money back if you have told paypal it was an unauthorized payment.
