How to stop mascara running/flaking?
i just got a new mascara and i really like it (and it was expensive!) but it flakes off so bad and i get panda eyes!
what can i do? i don't want to get a new one... i don't really have enough money to buy anything like eyelash primer either!
will normal face primer be ok??? -
Re: How to stop mascara running/flaking?
What mascara was it, out of curiosity so that I never buy it
I don't think an expensive mascara should flake. I use rimmel, cost me 3 quid and its amazing.
Normal face primer will be fine. But I use a teeny bit of foundation and a very slight dusting of powder on my eyes before I apply my mascara. Then I put one of those plastic mascara comb things through to get away excess. Also, if you feel its flaking because of the actual product and not your skin, try putting it in a cup of quite warm water for a bit before you use it, to see if it helps prevent the issue.
When applying, I would also recommend that you give your wand one quick, not too hard wipe with a paper towel before applying to get rid of all the gunky excess. I would also ensure you do not 'pump' the lid too much as it lets air get in which may dry the product out.
Hope I helped

Yeah, I've never experience flaking before. The only time I end up with flakes under my eyes or panda eyes is when I actually pick the mascara off or rub my eyes.
And as JellyBean_ said don't pump it, just sort of move it around within the tube if that makes sense. -
Re: How to stop mascara running/flaking?
hey guys, it's loreal volume million lashes in blackest black... i think the fact that it's "blackest black" may have something to do with it, i don't know because i didn't realise there was an option between "black" and "blackest black" when i bought it. i will try it again in normal black when i run out of this one... just a bit of a downer! i absolutely love the effect it gives to my lashes though! i don't pump it so it's not to do with that, and there's never any gunk on it because the actual container thing scrapes it off for you as you bring the wand out. so i really don't know!
if i put face primer on my lashes before i put on my mascara it helps a lot though so that'll do for now! determined to use the whole thing.
thanks for the advice!

I agree with jellybean_, a mascara shouldn't flake at all... :/ I'd invest in a better one if I were you, I use L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes and it's amazing.
Failing that Rimmel's always a good option.

Re: How to stop mascara running/flaking?That's so strange cos my one's always been perfect with me :/ maybe there's a faulty batch or something?(Original post by Bellissima)
