Re: chester accomodation????
Privately let houses can have as many as 12 rooms in, and as low as about 3. The only place you'd have you're own place would probably be Abbeygate apartments. . but they are like £100 a month where as renting a house with others is usually around £75 a week, including bills. The main disadvantage to being in a private house in first year is that you are slightly detached from the campus in the sense that you don't make as many people, as you if you was in halls. Anyway , if you want to know anything just reply on here with any questions

P.S , I'm a 2nd year student. -

Re: chester accomodation????
hey i started in a house for this year and according to the one person i know in halls, she hates it.. i know 7 of my friends all live in private accommodation and all love it, so i wouldn't worry. you can meet people on fb or in freshers and on your course. plus i have a free space in my house, 3 min walk to uni, good location with 5 2nd year girls, at £84 a week with bills included, message me if anyone is interested

Re: chester accomodation????
I had a friend in halls in 1st year, and she hated it. I myself lived in a private house I found through a landlord and shared with 4 other girls, we had a blast!
I loved my uni experience, and I never lived in halls.
A lot of the houses around the bouverie street / chichester street / lorne street area are student houses, so you still get the 'student' experience as youll find your next door neighbours are a house of students too. -
Re: chester accomodation????
Hello,
In reply to your question yes that is correct. There is limited housing offered through the university accommodation. Not sure on the exact amount, but the University of Chester's policy is generally the further away you live, the more opportunity/chance you have of securing university owned accommodation next year.
However, like you stated, there is private accommodation to consider. Just for the record, I was a student at the university, and so because I lived far away I got my pick with accommodation owned by the uni. Private accommodation is your best bet if you don't get allocated uni owned property to reside in.
This isn't a bad thing, and chances are they will be lots of people in your position, there are freshers fairs and the like dedicated to house hunting in the private sector.
That being said, I do know of a room vacancy, in which the estate agents are looking for a tenant to let a room located in the Hoole area of Chester. This specific room is 90 p.w (per week) all bills inclusive (Gas, electricity water etc.), double-bed, en-suite bathroom, Cooker, Washing-machine, Dryer, Fridge, Microwave and most of the appliances included in the apartment.
You will be sharing with 2 other second year students and the offer commences on the 1st August for 2012/13 academic year.
See link for further details: http://www.abbeyrentals.co.uk/view.a...E%20per%20week.
You are strongly urged to contact the office to arrange a viewing whenever convenient. Many thanks. -
Re: chester accomodation????
As I understand it:
Accommodation packs will be sent out within the next week or so for those who have been accepted with an UNCONDITIONAL.
Accommodation packs will be sent out 7-14 days or so after results day for those who were accepted with a CONDITIONAL.
You won't receive information as to what accommodation you have until the beginning of September.
As far as I know, if you are within a thirty mile radius, you will not receive details on accommodation and have to make your own arrangements with local landlords/agencies should you wish to live closer to Chester.
Do not worry about not finding somewhere to live, there are plenty of places advertising with both agencies and private landlords in the area. -
Re: chester accomodation????
Hello, just to clarify on the post above, EVERYBODY who holds an offer, whether that is conditional or unconditional should have received the 'Info For You' guide and is able to apply for accommodation now. We'd recommend that you still apply for accommodation, even if you have put Chester as your insurance choice.
If you have any questions about this, please contact our Accommodation office on 01244 513001 or email accommodation@chester.ac.uk

Re: chester accomodation????
I have received an accommodation pack but as I am an international postgraduate student I would need to study September 2012- October 2013 and Summer months are also not holidays. However in the accommodation pack there are only September-July options which obviously do not suit me. Does it mean that I have to live in private accommodation? =\
