i didnt see it in A2 core practicals summary so i dont think we have to know it for paper 6 . although paper 6 is synoptic i dont think they'll ask about southern blotting ...

yes it is a part but i dont think they will ask gel electrophoresis too much detailed if they ask it.. this is only what i think, i dont say i am sure

for range bars, you put the lowest value and the highest value above and below the mean and draw a vertical line.

    ok if values are
    2, 3, 4, 6, 80.
    then mean would be 19
and range bar would be a vertical line from 2 to 80 .?

    i did from 2003...

yes, it was worth a mark in a mark scheme, so im pretty sure we have to include a range bar.

well both the guides have practicals in them ....i just go through them once..

yes .. we always draw the graphs of means .. so 19 will already be in our graph.. then we will draw a line from 2 to 80 if the data are like that .. but error bars are only one mark, so my teacher suggests that we do them at the end of the exam if we have time as they are time consuming ..

In a U tube respirometer , what is the function of the control tube ...?! my sir said it compensates for any change in temperature and pressure.......i still dont get it ?

i found this on Wikipedia :-

As changes in temperature or pressure can also affect the displacement of the manometric fluid, a second respirometer identical to the first except with a dead specimen (or something with the same mass as the specimen in place of the organism) is sometimes set up. Subtracting the displacement of the second respirometer from the first allows for control of these factors

..............what do we substract.? and why does that even matter...?!
