I was considering this today actually. Saw a nice Ralph Lauren cardigan in my size for £39.99 in TK Maxx... but I restrained myself and didn't get it. Now I feel immense regret

I mean it's just a means to an end. The work side is obviously important but if you don't have any fun at all then this will continue into post uni life.

Student loan is to live off though. Not everything you're going to need is relevant to your studies.

Where do you come up with moron threads like this? Jesus Christ, do you live every aspect of your life to the absolute, either one way or the other? Economise ffs, buy within your means. Every single normal person who isn't into accruing credit card debts will buy some clothes they like, buy decent food and still have money to socialise. They just don't go around hitting up Prada and Waitrose at the same time.

I know, but the OP seems to be suggesting, starve yourself and get clothes, or be able to eat sensibly and be a 'no one'. The loan is provided for people to as you say 'live off', so you can study...that's what I was kind of getting at (or trying at least )

True, there's a happy medium. You can basically afford to live off decent but cheap food and still have plenty left over.

Yeah, think the problem is that the OP is providing us with serious extremes

I like to eat/ stay fairly healthy/ and be somewhat studious, but believe it or not I also like to have friends and not look like a hobo

so maybe it's just best to agree, as you say, to a happy medium.
