Re: So today the year 11s were crying.
I cried!! It was because I was moving counties and weren't going to see my friends much at all. I know you can go visit but to be fair quite a lot of people move on even when they say they'll keep in touch.
Also as someone said, its the end of an era, you might say you won't miss school but you will be upset about leaving because you remember a lot of fun stuff you did with your friends.
Simply, some people behave differently, some don't cry some do. In my opinion you're closing off a chapter of your life and you reflect on it, good times and bad lol. -
Re: So today the year 11s were crying.Just gay fags overacting(Original post by Miracle Day)
Today the year 11s left school for exams, and on Friday Year 12s leave woo
.
Anyway, they had an end of year assembly with performed dramas, and a video presentation of pictures of the students from year 7-11. They were all emotional, signing eachother's shirts and saying their 'final farewells'. And then on Facebook you'd see the "Today was so sad status".
"OHMYGUDZ I'm neva gun c u again xoxox
"
Why were they so upset?
You'll see them during your exams.
You'll see them on Results Day.
You'll see them on Facebook.
You'll see them when you collect your GCSE certificate.
You'll see them in prom.
You'll see them when you go to Sixth Form, which the majority of you will be going to. -

Re: So today the year 11s were crying.
I hated Secondary School. A grand total of no tears were shed that day.
Also... a prom for leaving school? How American.
If you do insist on such frivolity, at least have to decency to go to a ball (rather than go to prom).
I die a little inside when I hear the English language slaughtered so.Last edited by OMGWTFBBQ; 09-05-2012 at 19:19. -

I cried when I left year 11. With joy.
Joy that I wouldn't have to be near the scum that went to my school ever again.

Well you're in the "partyy high life" University, shouldn't you?
Nevermind, just saw you're in UCL.

Re: So today the year 11s were crying.Since they're only going to come in for exams, chances are there are alot of people in the yeargroup who won't see each other ever again, or that they'll never speak to each other again. With close friends, you'll probably keep contact during the whole exam period and afterwards as well, but with acquaintances (most of the year group) its different.(Original post by llacerta)
Well, it's the end of an era I guess. I understand it's strange for them to be upset about 'not seeing each other again', but I can see why they're sad generally; I was sad when high school ended and nothing was ever going to be the same again. Sure, my closest friends went to the same Sixth Form as me too thankfully, but there wasn't the same community atmosphere as there was in high school (though that might have just been to do with my rubbish Sixth Form.)
However, I am a sentimental old fool. And Facebook statuses like that would irritate me regardless of whether I empathise with them, so I can see where you're coming from.

Re: So today the year 11s were crying.Sounds cool.(Original post by somethingbeautiful)
Haha, same
.
I was ecstatic when I left school, everyone else was crying as if their lives were over. I only kept in contact with one of the people from the school that I went to. It's quite nice actually - we're both in our 20's so we've known each other for over 10 years. The rest I could not give any less of a **** about
.
Incidentally I've recently found one lad living near me who went to the same school, turns out he's a pretty nice fellow. Unfortunately I never really associated with anyone from school, including him, so we're effectively having to get to know each other from scratch, despite first meeting over 11 years ago and having some shared memories.
Learned from him that many of my former schoolmates are on hard drugs and/or in prison. Sounds about right

Re: So today the year 11s were crying.
I cried last week, the day before my last day of school. But then it's my last year of school, so that's us gone forever. We'll see each other for exams but not on results day because in Scotland we just get them mailed to us. So in less than a fortnight it really will be the last time we ever see some people. Although at the end of last year I ran up to one of my friends who was moving to Glasgow and going to uni a year earlier than most of us and gave her a huge hug. Haven't seen her since, and I've only spoken to her once because she's remarkably hard to contact. I think I'll be quite emotional after exams, because I'm moving down to England for uni and there are some people I'll really miss, but I'm going to try and keep contact via facebook and twitter if they're ever actually on it.

Re: So today the year 11s were crying. But you're not yet a university student. Shouldn't you be out drinking and getting laid?(Original post by Muscovite)
Because admin put it there thanks to the increasing amount of pubescent losers that fail to realise this is a place for university students rather than high school kiddies. Now go out and live what's left of your childhood. Shouldn't you be out drinking and getting laid?

Re: So today the year 11s were crying.
I think I cried, but then again I wept my way throughout almost the entirety of 2008 so it probably wasn't because I was so sad I wouldn't be seeing a lot of people I hated again. Or maybe I was crying because I would be seeing just as many people I hated every day for the next two years. I dunno.

Re: So today the year 11s were crying.
I don't know anyone who cried when we left Year 11. The only people who were actually leaving and not going to Sixth Form didn't turn up which was unsurprising considering their attendance record for the rest of the academic year. As for the people who were staying, we all knew that we'd see each other in our exams, revision classes etc.
Oh and we had an exam on our last day anyway so we weren't allowed to sign our shirts in case we cheated. :/ -
Re: So today the year 11s were crying.Correct.(Original post by Jed_)
It just sounds like you had no friends to miss to be honest.
All of my mates stayed for Sixth Form.
