You can't predict A level results from GCSE's.

How do they predict them then?

Your results won't be predicted from GCSE due to how different the courses are. AS results will be predicted through how well you've worked in the year; in essays and mocks etc.. And your A2 predicted grades, which are what really matter, will be predicted from your AS's and how well you've worked in the year

For target grades they use ALIS which is very unreliable and does use GCSE grades, for predicted grades the teacher generally assesses how you do in your first terms in class tests and homework, and also by looking at AS exam results, which while unreliable for some people, is still better than ALIS.

From what I gather, there's no corrolation between GCSE and A Level results. If you work hard you'll get what you put in.

at our school we have ALPS generated from your average points from all of your GCSE's, which is ridiculous as it gives you the same predicted grade for each subject and it doesn't consider individual strengths, and then it was adjusted for A2 based on conversations with teachers about AS etc.

GCSEs aren't an indicator of A-Level Results. You will get a true indication of your likely result after your AS Results.

I recommend you finish your AS-Levels before you start worrying about A-Level predictions.
