Where is better... Birmingham or London?
Hey people, I'm on the final stage of my KPMG School leaver selection process, and they've given me the opportunity to stay with my application in Bham or transfer it to London...

I currently live in London anyway, but i honestly don't know where to choose...

Where are there better career opportunities? Better cost of living? Nightlife? Etc...

Not sure if this is the right topic to post the thread in, so feel free to move it if it's wrong!

Please help, i need to make this decision by 9am tomoro, thanks

London, if you can live with your parents then save the extra money.

Birmingham if you're living away from home.

Birmingham will be a hell of a lot cheaper to live, but I'd say London has clearly better nightlife. It all comes down to money.

As you're going to be a school leaver Birmingham might have a better student oriented nightlife?

    And yeah it's cheaper.

You might get paid a little extra in London, but the cost of living will be that much more that you'd probably be better off in money terms in Birmingham. The nightlife there is pretty good and a hell of a lot cheaper. It's also not as spread out as London's nightlife, which can be n advantage.

I can't see why anyone would live in Birmingham if they could live in London.

    You'd have to be mad.

London. Not only because it's a much better city but also because in the London offices of KPMG are freaking awesome in the middle of Canary Wharf...You will have access to people and other stuff you would never get to access in/from Birmingham. So London is a better choice professionally too.

Ps. You might wanna look into whether it is more competitive to get into the London office because it could very well be. And in that case, it might be worth considering Birmingham...But only in that case:P

EDIT: You probably already made your decision. What did you decide on?

You're definitely right, in a professional sense there will also be a lot more contacts and links in London for me to network with.

I know for a fact that London is a lot more competitive to get the place because obviously everyone would mainly apply to London as it's the major city... But i still decided to go for London!! I have faith in my ability to be better than my competition haha :P

Plus, I already know the nightlife here is great. The downside is Birmingham would've made me more independent, so what i'm planning to do if i get the place in London is to stay out the first year for the experience and then move back in with my parents and save the money!

I would like to thank everyone for their help btw, it helped me sway my decision firmly Thanks!!

If anyone wants, i'll keep them updated about how i do, and if they wish to apply at a future reference, i'll definitely help with what comes up

Why? London is far more expensive, that is a massive reason not to live there.
