please for the love of god i'm BEGGING you stay away from UKF. its not that it's "not dubstep" but it's just bad music full stop. i don't know why anyone would recommend that *******s to anyone for any reason

Burial doesn't sound like anything really but he's certainly more garage sounding imo. Horsepower Productions - Sholay is probably my fave garagey dubstep tune atm

DeniedExistence and JCC dishing out the quality imo.

Please don't rain on me with negs as I am in no way suggesting that this is a great example of good dubstep but thought people who listen to dubstep might find it surprising that Cher Lloyd has done this:

Why would it be surprising? She's just a singer who achieved fame out of a game show that's desperate to be seen doing anything and everything that could be even remotely referred to as 'gangsta'. That, and the fact that that song was most likely the brainchild of some hotshot producer, with Lloyd having very little to do with the actual production or mixing. Literally, all she does is repeat the line 'I'm the kinda girl that put dub on the track'. Ironically, the bulk of the vocal talent comes from the rapping bloke.

That Cher Lloyd tune is really bad, even from a commercial dubstep perspective. At least Swagger Jagger was catchy. God knows what Dot Rotten and Ghetts are doing on there, should be ashamed of themselves. See Katy B for how to do it right.

Yeah Mic Righteous and the others are pretty good on it and yes, you do have a point, but I thought she'd stick to things a little more mainstream - if you compare this video to her other songs it has nowhere near as many views. Tbh her saying "I'm the kinda girl to put dub on the track" and "work hard, party harder" does ruin the song. Regardless, it's not bad; I certainly prefer it to her other songs.

welll... i will :indiff: cos the idea that qawwali and midnight request line sound even remotely similar is ridiculous... there are 1000s of dubstep tracks out there, knock yourself out. as far as i know qawwali has not sampled another dubstep track or been sampled.

Burial all the way, even though he's technically not really dubstep. Part of the reason he is so ****ing awesome - he has his own sound. His vocal samples are immense as well.

In terms of other artists: Digital Mystikz, Zomby, Skream are all decent.

^^^What he said, especially Zomby. Natalia's Song has seen a lot of action on my iPod recently.

I would be hesitant to even call Burial dubstep tbh he exists in his own kind of hybrid genre, easiest suggestion would be to go to the Dubstep Soc thread but I'll give you a couple of examples

    Nice tunes.

Good to see another female who's really into 'real dubstep' (I don't like to say that, but you know what I mean). We're a rare breed.
