War Of The Roses
Anyone seen this game? Im really looking forward to it.
If you have ever seen or played any of the Mount & Blade series .. well.. its basically that.. but looks to be a more smooth, better looking and more historically in-depth etc . Im a massive fan of those games and still play them most days, i have racked up tooo many hours on those, so i love the look of this.
Website
"A team-based multiplayer melee combat experience, War of The Roses sees players and their band of knights going toe-to-toe with their opponents using authentic and visceral weapons of the time period including broad swords, long bows and battle-axes.
Built on a stunning graphics engine which vividly portrays the fighting from an up-close-and-personal third-person perspective, War of the Roses features both online multiplayer and a single-player campaign. Players will get the chance to lead their warrior through a rich progression system, gaining upgrades and unlocking new content on their path from filthy peasant to unstoppable armored killing machine."
- Large-scale Multiplayer Battles
- Single Player Campaign Mode
- Extensive Persistence System
A Preview
" It can be compared to blockbuster franchises like Call of Duty and Battlefield, but instead of a current or futuristic setting it’s been taken back a few hundred years. War of the Roses has the potential to drag serious gamers away from their multiplayer matches of CoD while also drawing in new players for the historical factor."

Re: War Of The Roses
I tend to quite like games published by Paradox and especially Mount & Blade which, as you say, this has some similarities to, so it's one I've briefly had my eye on ever since I saw a few screenies of it in an issue of PC Gamer a few months ago. I doubt I'll be picking it up as soon as it's released but will wait for reviews and probably a patch or two (it is a Paradox game, after all
While the games tend to ultimately be very good, I think Paradox still need to shake off their reputation for releasing games in a very buggy initial state)...then again, I said the same about Crusader Kings II and ended up pre-ordering that on Steam at the last minute
