Further Pure 1 AQA - May 18th 2012
Sorry if a thread has already been published about this.
Was just wondering what's everyone's thoughts on the upcoming exam and what parts of the course are you wishing not to come up and how is everyone revising?
- Im dreading matrix transformations just can't get them sorted in my head.... -

What about matrix transformations are you struggling with?
Also, does anyone have the jan 2012 paper for fp1? -
Re: Further Pure 1 AQA - May 18th 2012
Finished revising this about a week ago, found a June 05 paper which I hadn't done before, just finished it and managed to score full marks which has got my confidence up a bit.
Judging by the PC2 exam people sat today (I've already done PC2) it sounds like AQA are being nasty with their maths papers this season, just got to hope they don't chuck a curve ball question at us on Friday.

Re: Further Pure 1 AQA - May 18th 2012Good luck having two exams in one day!!!(Original post by Eggintonz)
AQA Maths papers look like they're all being stepped up, core 2 was horrible, most im gonna have scored was 60 and thats max!
Hope stats and FP1 are a lot easier

Re: Further Pure 1 AQA - May 18th 2012Don't worry I am sure you'll do well. Just be positive and Think Positive. Hope you get an A!(Original post by ryanboi)
Man tomorrow FP1 paper might be hard, seeing that FP1 Jan 2012 has high grade boundaries.

Re: Further Pure 1 AQA - May 18th 2012Yeah, everyone in my class thought it was straight forward too.(Original post by samkanwoods)
So how did you find the exam today. Personally i found it really easy, apart from the last question in the matrices section. The one which had M^2012. I had no idea.
No series questions or numerical questions thought which was a shame.
For the M^2012 think I used M^4 = -4I (that's what I worked it out as...) then raised it to the power of 503 and fiddled about with it...
I think there's a bit of digression with deduce marks though so I'm not sure I'll get full marks for it. :s -

Re: Further Pure 1 AQA - May 18th 2012
From my thread (I'll only post in this one from now on):
I should have some answers typed up by the end of today.
For now, a short list of some answers, If someone could tell me the order of these, that would be very helpful:
5x2-42x+65=0
gradiant at point=-31
z=1/2+(3/2)i
-2≤x<-1, 0≤x<1
M2012=-(2503)I
x=540n,-60+540n (degrees)
1.75<x<2 and x2=0.1934
(-8/3,4/3) and (-16/3,-4/3)Last edited by Nebula; 18-05-2012 at 12:10. Reason: Changed mis-type -

I kept messing up the decimal place myself in the exam hence I remember xD -
Re: Further Pure 1 AQA - May 18th 2012
Wouldn't the interval question be -2<x<-1 and 1<x<2 since it was asking you what was beneath the line y=-1/2 ?
For the m^2012 question I put 1006, because m^2012 = (m^4)^503
= ((-2)^2 x I)^503 = (-2)^1006 x I. Actually, now I think about it that seems probably wrong.
What did you all get for the trigonemetry question? (I think I got that one wrong too).
