    Further Pure 1 AQA - May 18th 2012
    Sorry if a thread has already been published about this.

    Was just wondering what's everyone's thoughts on the upcoming exam and what parts of the course are you wishing not to come up and how is everyone revising?

    - Im dreading matrix transformations just can't get them sorted in my head....

    What about matrix transformations are you struggling with?
    Also, does anyone have the jan 2012 paper for fp1?

    You know you can do matrices in a graphical calculator. That would easily get you at least 6-8 marks. GOOD LUCK!

    Finished revising this about a week ago, found a June 05 paper which I hadn't done before, just finished it and managed to score full marks which has got my confidence up a bit.

    Judging by the PC2 exam people sat today (I've already done PC2) it sounds like AQA are being nasty with their maths papers this season, just got to hope they don't chuck a curve ball question at us on Friday.

    What topics are people hoping/not hoping for?

    That Core 2 paper was so hard. Im usually get around 100% in all my mocks for Core 1,2 FP1 AND FP4. So that exam was a let down. Maximum grade I cant get was 54/75 for that exam i worked out. I am dreading Mechanics 3!!!

    AQA Maths papers look like they're all being stepped up, core 2 was horrible, most im gonna have scored was 60 and thats max!
    Hope stats and FP1 are a lot easier

    Man tomorrow FP1 paper might be hard, seeing that FP1 Jan 2012 has high grade boundaries.

    So how did you find the exam today. Personally i found it really easy, apart from the last question in the matrices section. The one which had M^2012. I had no idea.

    Yeah, everyone in my class thought it was straight forward too.

    No series questions or numerical questions thought which was a shame.

    For the M^2012 think I used M^4 = -4I (that's what I worked it out as...) then raised it to the power of 503 and fiddled about with it...

    I think there's a bit of digression with deduce marks though so I'm not sure I'll get full marks for it. :s

    From my thread (I'll only post in this one from now on):

    I should have some answers typed up by the end of today.
    For now, a short list of some answers, If someone could tell me the order of these, that would be very helpful:

    5x2-42x+65=0
    gradiant at point=-31
    z=1/2+(3/2)i
    -2≤x<-1, 0≤x<1
    M2012=-(2503)I
    x=540n,-60+540n (degrees)
    1.75<x<2 and x2=0.1934
    (-8/3,4/3) and (-16/3,-4/3)

    Should be .175<a<.2

    I kept messing up the decimal place myself in the exam hence I remember xD

    Wouldn't the interval question be -2<x<-1 and 1<x<2 since it was asking you what was beneath the line y=-1/2 ?

    For the m^2012 question I put 1006, because m^2012 = (m^4)^503
    = ((-2)^2 x I)^503 = (-2)^1006 x I. Actually, now I think about it that seems probably wrong.

    What did you all get for the trigonemetry question? (I think I got that one wrong too).

    Found it straight forward, only problem was matrix but i said i was bad at them
    I got -32 for gradient, think i didnt take the +(1-h) off, thats annoying, hopfully only drop 1 mark.

    I thought the exam had easy topics but the questions were just tricky, if that makes any sense? Don't think I've got the A I was hoping for since I made numerous little errors

    I thought it was quite a nice paper what did everyone get for the scale factor and angle of rotation for the matrix question?

    From looking at an other thread I've just realised that sin(70-2/3x) = cos20. How did I not see that! Typical me just rushing into a question. I bet the examiners thought that it would be a nice little trick question...
