    This ruling makes so sense...

Child porn doesn't just randomly pop up on your computer. Whoever believes that has never used the internet before..

If someone has child porn on their computer, I guarantee you it arrived there purposefully.
    Well yes and no.

You never been linked to goatse or meatspin when you thought it was something legitimate? If we follow your reasoning any ******* could do the same except linking you to some cp instead. This being the case you'd be a pedo for the rest of your life.

Okay yes, that's a fair point. However, if anything the due diligence required to prove that an individual was knowingly accessing child porn should be increased, instead of just legalizing the practice altogether. I believe that this ruling sets a very dangerous precedent because it gives too much benefit of the doubt to the alleged offender.

probably because you have a habit of putting your own spin on these things..
Where is the "spin", the article is quoted ad verbatim...

People will continue to be in denial of reality, it's so sad we cannot free ourselves from this state of denial.

This is just a technical legal distinction between actively downloading (==illegal) and look at online images (downloaded into temp folder ==legal). It is not any of kind of revocation of statute.
Well it's a legal ruling clarifying that downloading child porn into your temporary web cache to watch is legal, something that wasn't clarified and ruled on before. So now it is officially legal as it's been ruled upon.

Only thing I can think of, and I admit I don't frequent chan boards such as /b/ on 4chan. But I've read it often that trolls will post child porn images into the board from time to time, clearly mods delete it when they're on, but I suppose you coming across child porn in that context would be accidental viewing.

does a person watching it make it any more likely for that person to actually molest a kid in real life? If not then this doesn't matter.

not always, as some one else pointed out some people will just dump them on message board sites 'for lulz' and what have you and sometime it will truly be an accidental stumble upon, someone posted another article on here about someone being arrested for having a couple in his cache which he said hed accidently run into ... to be fair ive spoken to a fair few people online where this has happened to them, especially when browsing the deep web, where sites can be labelled as one thing and be a whole diffrent thing when you actually go on it.
i dont dispute that if you find some videos/pics on their desktop something untoward has happened but sometimes people will accidently run into this smut online through no fault of their own and due to the way these computers work theyll auto download to yourcache even if you didnt mean to ... but thats just my 2 cents

I have to say it disturbs me when people post pictures of their kids in the bath on facebook, what are they trying to do advocate their child to pedos?
Oh I see. You're officially an idiot.

I agree with you there. I posted (post #43) conceding that point but I still do believe that this ruling sets a dangerous standard, and basically just presents a giant loophole waiting to be exploited.

The fact that people neg someone for reporting a news story about something they don't like? As if it's their fault for reporting the truth of how the world is?

It demonstrates that people dislike being told the truth, and would rather live in their own fantasyland because then they don't have to face up to reality.

This is disgusting. So now paedophiles can view as much as they like as long as they don't download it. What a giant step backwards.
It should be that they can watch as much as they want, as long as they never hurt a child. That would be a step forwards.

This is not legalising child pornography by any means, the thread title is so misleading it would be fit for the Daily Mail.

All this ruling has done is differentiate between people who intentionally download child pornography and those who accidentally come across child pornography online (the ruling safeguards the latter as they are innocent).

id be suspicious of anyone that needs to browse the deep web regularly, its full of illegal ****, other bull**** and hardly anything else. I went on once just to see if I could find any interesting terrorist or government material to read through clicked on something so sickening I closed the program, got rid of it off my computer and went and hid in my bed. It wasnt child porn either, btw.

everything a normal person needs is on the normal web which i stick to now.

And you, my sir, have never browsed the deep web before (neither have I mind), but on the deeb web, due to it's anonomity, a lot of indecent material does quite literally `pop-up`

And some nasty websites, which look `clean`, on the surface internet does have script to make stuff pop up, i know of people who've had CP come up on screen like that (it's how i first witnessed goatse....)

Mind you, after having said all that, i wasn't the one who negged you i'm just correcting you that **** does happen...

EDIT;after reading the thread, it would appear other people have already mentioned what i said, you may ignore this comment if you wish :P

oh i know what you mean, first time i went on it i came across some horrific stuff but other than that there are some rather intriguing places on it, personally i only used it to see if the silkroad was all it was cracked up to be and my my was it
