How do CIE calculate their iGCSE English Language Grade Boundaries? Grade Calculation
My coursework is adequate, I'm pretty pleased with it. 73/75 (which is then converted to a number out of 50 for 50%) according to my teacher! So how many marks would I have needed to achieve in today's exam out of 50 for an A*? It would be really helpful thank you! Is it 90/100 for an A*? I think each mark out of 50 in this exam was a % of the whole iGCSE.

It depends on the paper - a harder paper will have a lower A* boundary and vice versa. All you can do is wait! -
Re: How do CIE calculate their iGCSE English Language Grade Boundaries? Grade CalculaOur coursework's out of 75 'cause it's 3 essays, out of 25 for each.(Original post by Mazzini)

Hmmm, I think it was a more difficult paper, what about yourself? -

Re: How do CIE calculate their iGCSE English Language Grade Boundaries? Grade CalculaI thought the Literature was 3 25-marker essays? I only did 2 40-marker essays for Language.(Original post by Tirrany)

Re: How do CIE calculate their iGCSE English Language Grade Boundaries? Grade CalculaBecause they change so much - for the mock at my school we were given the one with the Beast of Bodmin Moor which was a really hard paper so the A* boundary was really low - I got 72% on it which was an A*.(Original post by Afootballmug)
Yes, that's the paper I did...
I would love to guess the grade boundaries but the teachers are remarkably quiet on the topic. -
Re: How do CIE calculate their iGCSE English Language Grade Boundaries? Grade CalculaOoooh I got 76% on it.(Original post by Mazzini)

Ah okay I understand. My teacher's said that the boundaries are always 18/20 for the 20 mark questions and 9/10 for the 10 mark questions, hmmm okay this makes it slightly better now hahaha.

Re: How do CIE calculate their iGCSE English Language Grade Boundaries? Grade CalculaI wouldn't say it is that high - maybe your teacher was just trying to make you work harder?(Original post by Tirrany)

Re: How do CIE calculate their iGCSE English Language Grade Boundaries? Grade CalculaHmmm I hope. Maybe she is, but she doesn't seem that strict about grades...maybe she's doing it in a really subtle way.(Original post by Mazzini)

I wonder what the grade boundaries for this exam will be out of 50? I mean, I coped quite well with Q2 and Q3a, 3b was a bit of a struggle to achieve 10+ points, but Q1 was a complete and utter annihilation on CIE's part. -

Re: How do CIE calculate their iGCSE English Language Grade Boundaries? Grade CalculaThere was SO MUCH for 2 & 3a. In Q2 I only got halfway through each paragraph because they said in their recommendations that they wanted about a side in total.(Original post by Tirrany)

Re: How do CIE calculate their iGCSE English Language Grade Boundaries? Grade Calculai didnt like the JC passage but other than that it was fine(Original post by smooshh)
I thought question 1 for language was a bitch, also a lot of people in my year wrote a formal report. The literature paper today was beaut though
