Course changing before 1st year.Is it possible?I was admitted to study BA Finance, Accounting and Management at University of Nottingham. However, I am not sure if I would really like to study this course. I am more interested in Economics. Would it be possible to change my programme from Finance, accounting & management to Economics before starting 1st year? I know economics is more competitive, but maybe I have a chance.. Any opinions?

Re: Course changing before 1st year.Is it possible?Doubt it. I tried to change and they said they had far too many applicants to consider me. (Though A*A*B wasn't good enough either, that might be different for you).
Considering we are the most applied to university it's probably a no. No harm in trying though.
What are your A Level results likely to be? -

If you've firmed already then you'd more than likely have to decline the offer and go into clearing. -

Re: Course changing before 1st year.Is it possible?You got loads of options, ring them up now and talk to them, either they might change the offer, wait till results day for openings and the final one is just go there in September and then change over because a lot of people change in the first month so openings come up.(Original post by vazee)

Re: Course changing before 1st year.Is it possible?i chose to do physics with theoretical astrophysics... few weeks before before uni, i called up and said i wanted to do straight physics, and they let me...
im sure you can change, even if its regarding an entire course change (if there are places still left)... wouldnt hurt to call, just dont tell them your name or anything when you ask...
you could always wait till you become unconditioned (after results) before you ask, though you may get stuck with your original course if there arent enough places for economics...Last edited by Dmon1Unlimited; 14-05-2012 at 16:36. -

They told me that there are not any empty places in Economics course, so I think I will not have any chances to change my course in September.. -

Re: Course changing before 1st year.Is it possible?ask again anyway when you get to uni, i know people who have dropped out of courses or have chosen to not go and just defer their place till next year... proper work doesnt start at the start of uni... youve got a little time to get stuff done before you start working...(Original post by vazee)

in my course, there are optional modules where you can choose modules from other courses...which is why im trying to do computer science modules (despite them being difficult to arrange)
even if you cant change course, find out if your current one allows you to do optional modules (so you can try to do economics modules, beware that some schools are not very flexible)
