Re: John MayerAnd his bassist! Pino Paladino is a boss!(Original post by EcclesRose)
He's not necessarily under-rated in the UK, I know a lot of people who are fans of him
I love the live album he did - Slow Dancing and Why Georgia sound amazing on that
I've also got to give props to the drummer in his band, Steve Jordan - amazing groove. -
Re: John MayerHey! Gosh those are awesome songs(Original post by kingkongjaffa)
Slow dancing in a burning room
In your atmosphere
Covered in Rain from his first live album
City love from crossroads
Vultures
Stop This Train
Gravity
Free falling
Come when I call (from where the light is)
A face to call home
waiting on the world to change
I think mine at the moment would have to be:
1. Don't Trust Myself With Loving You
2. Say
3. Neon
4. Assassin
5. Your Body Is a Wonderland
6. Free Fallin'
7. Love Song For No One
8. Slow Dancing In a Burning Room
9. Waiting On the World To change
10. Heartbreak Warfare
Haha but this list changes ALL the time lol :P
Apart from John Mayer who else do you like to listen to. -
Re: John Mayer

Re: John Mayer1. Stop This Train(Original post by jerichi)
I love John Mayer! Gosh I can listen to him all day and never get bored haha. I'm actually listening to him right now! Lol weird...
Top ten fave songs by him?
2. Wheel
3. Gravity
4. In Your Atmosphere
5. Edge of Desire
6. Comfortable
7. Man on The Side
8. Daughters
9. Hummingbird
10. Tracing
Picking ten is incredibly hard though and I'd pick everything he's done, if I could. Off the new record I'm in love with A Face To Call Home and Something Like Olivia, both of which will be in my top 10 very soon! -
Re: John Mayerhahaha I know the feeling!! I can't pick a set list of my favourite songs by him ever cause it's ALWAYS changing!! Oh I do like Daughters and Gravity!(Original post by GooseNation)

Re: John Mayer
Whats your favourite song from the new album guys
I have to say a face to call home is stealing it but speak for me is really good
Now the cover of Rolling Stone
Ain't the cover of a Rolling Stone
And the music on my radio
Ain't supposed to make me feel alone
Now they celebrating broken things
I don't want a world of broken things
You can tell that something isn't right
When all your heroes are in black and white
those two verses are a pretty accurate commentary of the music industry from my point of view and I guess John shares that sentiment. -

Top ten fave songs by him?
Your body is a wonderland
Perfectly lonely
Waiting on the world to change
Gravity
Dreaming with a broken heart
War of my life
All we ever do is say goodbye
In your atmosphere
Shadow days
Haven't listened to the new album but you can probably guess from the list that Battle Studies is my favourite

Re: John Mayer
He's a good guitarist, and I was a fan about 5 years ago, especially when he was playing a lot of blues, but then he just kind of abandoned that and moved on to other styles which was a bit annoying (blues music has to mean something to you and that made me question that with him). Then a few of his comments in the press (especially re: love life, though also the race thing) made him sound rather vulgar and careless, which didn't help. I've listened to the first couple of songs from this album and didn't take to it, it's no Continuum. I'm not impressed with his current look either, he doesn't really pull the hat off.

Re: John MayerHey! I haven't really listened to the new album yet haha. Battles Studies is one of my favourite albums by him too. Continuum would have to be another one of my favourites. Haha I laughed so hard when I first heard 'Your Body Is A Wonderland'. It literally made my day that song did :P(Original post by Skkc16)

Re: John MayerThe thing with him is that he's so incredibly talented that he seems to just get bored very quickly. I've heard him say in interviews that he likes to just try different things all the time; but that's why he has the John Mayer Trio. I presume you know about them, but if you don't you'll like that a lot more - that's all blues(Original post by Craig_D)

Re: John Mayer
Wow. His new album is #2 on the UK iTunes charts. I must say, I'm surprised, considering those charts are usually taken over by the unoriginal crap that floats about nowadays....
In Repair is another great and underrated song of his. Did you know that the instrument playing the intro is a guitar, not an organ? I only recently found this out when I watched this:

I'd recommend giving this a watch, it's amazing!Last edited by RyJ; 26-05-2012 at 17:30.
