Re: AS Spanish Reading, Listening and Writing Mon 14th (AQA)didn't it say in the thing that her mum kept it a secret because she thought it would make her sad?(Original post by James4821)
I put that as well

Re: AS Spanish Reading, Listening and Writing Mon 14th (AQA)Your essay sounds quite like mine but I only wrote 2 pages so I think I wrote less words than you because a page of my writing is about 250 words!!! EEp.. i don't think my essay was very good though(Original post by Steve Axford)
Guys i did the technology question and i think it went ok. I wrote about 850 words and basically my structure was : intro - paragraph on risks/dangers paragraph on positives/benefits conclusion. is that the kind of thing it expected me to write? And also the 'patito' question was BS! I lived in spain for years and i understood it word for word but i could not work out all 7! i guessed the last one or two. i hate questions like that though to be fair :/

Re: AS Spanish Reading, Listening and Writing Mon 14th (AQA)I wasn't really sure on this one but just went for it in the end to be honest.(Original post by Steve Axford)

Re: AS Spanish Reading, Listening and Writing Mon 14th (AQA)I Think "capaz" changes to "capaces" in the plural form. I think it was "llama" becuase it was an imperative.(Original post by akemikat)
On the VFN I put N for both that said one had more quals and one was more lucky (she said that one was intelligent and the other had babies and kids or something, both imply possibly luck and intelligence but neither were mentioned exactly as qualifications or family)
As for the grammar, I put llames because the person was asking if the person WANTS the parents to help them, in which case, surely if the person wants the parents to help them there is uncertainty that the parents would help them and so it's subjunctive? I'm probably wrong, I don't understand the subjunctive.
I didn't know what the hell cabaz was. I put bajando, llames, greses, otros (temas is masculine), roto (was that one i can't remember?) uhh what were the others I don't know.
My essay was 2 pages long but I think very poor - I chose technology which was the easiest for me to write about and I could have written loads but I just flunked it to be honest.
Now the long old wait until August............

Re: AS Spanish Reading, Listening and Writing Mon 14th (AQA)I think it's about 42/50(Original post by R.Val)
just as a quick question -- do you know roughly the spanish oral grade boundaries??

Re: AS Spanish Reading, Listening and Writing Mon 14th (AQA)(Original post by Chris69)
FOr the question on V F Nm
What did you's put for the luck one?
I thought it said carolina(speaker) was more qualified but adele earned more money? In my world, I'd say adele has had more luck in life?
If there is one thing I noticed about this exam there were at least two occasions where it was trying to trick you.
The first occasion was in the listening test, where the speakers said "she is intelligent, and the other one has a family." On paper it said she had qualifications, and the other had luck. Neither of which were mentioned. You could, SAY that 'intelligence' related to qualifications but that isn't remotely true. Or that luck relates to having a family, again not true. Both weren't mentioned, it was a trick.
Again there was a trick that tried to trip you up somewhere else in the exam but I can't remember where it was now. Hmm.
I think el tema might have tripped a lot up because the verb was 'otros' as masculine.
I know that I got wrong bajando, cabaz or whatever and at least a couple of other grammar ones. I'll be lucky to scrape a D in this exam.
Oh and the other thing is that people keep saying "don't worry, it's only 1 mark" ... lots of only 1 marks add up and the grade boundaries for an A are really high. If you lose out a lot on those then you're buggered, well, I know I am cos my essay was crap as well. It's hard enough to write an essay in English under exam conditions. I could have written so much more

Re: AS Spanish Reading, Listening and Writing Mon 14th (AQA)
i thought it was OK .....except for the fact i have a feeling a wrote a T instead of a V in the listening !!! always make some sort of stupid mistake !
for the cinema one i remember getting espionaje, terror, animados, a science fiction one?
for the one about Ana and Karl what did you guys write? i wrote that she wasn't looking for a boyfriend, she got a friend request on fb...but didn't know what to write for the question about their friendship? i wrote she wanted to improve her German and her parents only believed it was going to happen when he arrived at the airport of that place i cant remember the name of. He went to Argentina to improve his spanish...and something else about culture?
the Glastonbury one was fine!
the last question on the reading was awful!!
for the grammar i remember writing grises, roto, capaces, otros, desarollando...cant remember the rest (my memory is so bad!)
for the essay i did technology and wrote 3 paragraphs on the reasons why i think they exaggerate the dangers/risks of technology like mobiles having link with cancer, radio waves, problems with eyes etc. Tv containing inappropriate content for children violence, sex drugs leading to unwanted pregnancies etc. and then internet dangers etc. Then i wrote about the good/ positive aspects and concluded.
all in all not too bad, then again could have done better. haha

Re: AS Spanish Reading, Listening and Writing Mon 14th (AQA)I got that answer as well... phew(Original post by R.Val)
For the Ana & Karl one - i think i put their friendship was growing rapidly?
The grammar section i think i did well at but i think i messed up on the writing section a bit...i think i may have digressed a bit...meh...what writing question did you choose?
Out of all of my exams i think this was the only one i was really worried about...and i do physics :P -
Re: AS Spanish Reading, Listening and Writing Mon 14th (AQA)I think that you probably did well in the grammar section then...i had trouble with the first one, i thought it would be infinitive but it was the gerund so it was bajando.(Original post by srshsmmr)

The writing section i did the same as you and i broke it down into positives and negatives and whether we should protect people from it, but i was constantly referring to the q. so i thought it went ok.
the listening and reading i thought were quite easy the spoke much slower than in the mocks i did,
overall it went ok but they sat that if you think you did well you have probably failed. retakes here i come :P -
Re: AS Spanish Reading, Listening and Writing Mon 14th (AQA)aww i put the infinitive too! :'( haha(Original post by pascal_evans)

good luck with the rest of your exams!

Re: AS Spanish Reading, Listening and Writing Mon 14th (AQA)Omg I would've thought someone would have put you straight. Regarding that question, the infinitive is the correct form, so it didn't even need changing. The gerund is incorrect, so well done those who did put the infinitive, you will get the mark. Bajar, simple. Good luck too, hope you did well.(Original post by srshsmmr)

I must have missed the part of Spanish grammar where an infinitive comes after 'en' because the question ended with "en" before the gap
My mother insisted in (to lower) the volume - doesn't make sense in english but guess it must in spanish
My mother insisted in lowering the volume however makes sense and that's why I put it =/
Guess I've learnt something from it at least, though still don't understand what aspect of spanish grammar taught you to use infinitives where gerund makes more sense -
Re: AS Spanish Reading, Listening and Writing Mon 14th (AQA)Well I guess you must have then. Yes, the preceeding word was 'en', and insistir en is following by infinitive in Spanish, and it's not just limited to that, there's loads of situations where when you have a verb, then a preposition (like de, en..), when a verb follows it is in the infinitive. You say the gerund makes more sense, yes in English that would be the case, I'm sure you'll be aware by now translating from language to language is more than just word to word, there's various stuff to take into account. I'm guessing it's exactly that mistake they'd hope people would make, using the gerund. Just cause it's gerund in English, doesn't mean it is for all. Good luck though.(Original post by akemikat)
