    Physics SL 2012 discussion
How did everyone find P1 and P2. I found P1 to be quite straightforward for the most part. However P2 was more difficult especially Q1 ^^. Also thought we could share some individual answers.

One question in particular which bothered me was the 200MeV question, I got 155 for that and I just assumed they rounded it to 200, anyone else get the same thing?

Yeah, P1 was really good And P2 was much harder xD Couldn't get the 200 MeV question hopefully will pick up method marks though...

I found Paper 1 OK, but you can never really know how it's gone because it's so easy to lose marks. And Paper 2 was easier than I was expecting and I loved the data question: no uncertainties to calculate and an inversely proportional relationship (or rather, not!) that I had revised the night before :P But I didn't have a clue about the MeV question- I wrote down the combined mass in u then put E=mc^2 and hoped for the best...Fingers crossed for a 5! Which part B questions did everyone do? I did B1 (Thermal and SHM).

The MeV Question was pretty easy in theory........ You just had convert the mass difference into MeV. Anyone able to confirm my answer ^^. I was also concerned about the instantaneous speed question what did you guys get for the value of v in Q2, and the shape of the curve.

Yeah, I also got 155MeV for that question. The only thing I found hard was in B1 in the ideal gases question where you had to calculate something...I can't even remember what it was, but anyways they gave you the atomic weight of some element as 40. How were you supposed to change that to kg?

yea i also got something like 155MeV so i assumed thats what they mean by 200MeV but i did b3 which turned out to be not a smart choice

The mark three electricity question was really hard didn't have time to get the right answer. For v I put 11.25m/s area under the graph.

For MCQ what did you guys put for the pendulum one- the one which shows and image of an oscillating pendulum at equilibrium position. I put D) where the Force was equal to the weight of the pendulum. It was one I wasn't entirely sure about.

I think paper 1 was ok. I went out thinking I got a lot of it right, but found out later I got some of those ones wrong.

Paper 2, I found a bit hard. I found the questions quite... weird. I did B2, on SHM and fields and forces (different time zone? - I don't remember an MeV question). I think I got most of the SHM, but I didn't know how to answer the part 2 questions.

Why was B3 not a smart choice?
energy and climate change questions were pretty straight forward and the gravity, force questions: 4 marks were on purely defining symbols from the forumla.......

any body have any ideas on the grade boundaries? personally i think it will be similar to last years....

    p1 21-30 =7

    p2 30-50=7

    p3 25-40=7

    ia 39-48 =7

    overall 65-100% =7

oh i personally thought it was difficult.. i don't know cause it looked easy since it was deduce and it gave me the answers but i just couldn't get it...

What is the internal assessment for Physics? :P For French, I did an oral interview, for history, there is the 2000-word research essay, for English, it would be world-lit or oral commentary (?). What are they for the sciences?

Would they be the group 4 project? Design labs? All labs put together? Or do I have this whole internal assessment thing very wrong? What is it marked out of? Is it worth a lot?

I'm sorry. I don't remember being told about an internal assessment. I am getting confused.
