Entry Requirements Confusion - Newcastle Engineering
Ok basically I'm really confused, I am going to be applying uni this autumn (in my gap year). I want to study Chemical Engineering and want to apply to Newcastle as one choice, the entry requirement is AAB-ABB. My whos going this year has applied to do Mechanical Engineering, the requirements again are AAB - ABB.

On the requirement for Mechanical engineering it says an offer of ABB will be accepted if Physics or Chemistry are included; however my friend got an offer of BBB. He says this is because he has Physics and Chemistry.

How is this possible? Does this mean universities advertise their entry requirements higher than they actually are or is this a rare circumstance?

    Cheers.

He might have applied for a BEng course?

Some universities will drop grades if they want you to study there.

Usually you can transfer if you get sufficient marks in the first year, but this does depend on the uni.

And unis can offer whatever they wish. The stated typical offer is just what most successful applicants receive. It's possible your friend had a really good application so the uni liked him enough to offer lower.

They might have raised the entry requirements for 2013, or they just really liked your friend.
