One question: What is the best time to make a call to a University Admissions Office in England?
I'll take a guess and say call between 9am to 5pm UK time (obviously).

Hi there. Long time no hear. I thought you already on your way to Sheffield? Haven't you planned for accommodation, etc.?

What are you going to do now? Is York the uni you really wanted to go to?

By the way, many congratulations on that offer. Well done!

    Re: SOAS Offer!
Hi, sorry for the random contribution! Im starting an MA in Gender Studies and Arabic at SOAS in September, and i actually did my undergrad degree at the University of York!
If you need a personal opinion, i would say go to SOAS, you will get a much more cultured experience and although the cost of living in a city like London is higher, there are A LOT of opportunities for students with discounts and freebies etc.
York is technically a city too, but only because of the cathedral there.. otherwise it is a TINY city with not much to do. the student culture there is pretty horrible, the university it pretty small, you see the same people all the time, and the environment is kind of like an american high school in terms of social hierarchy..
Also, york IS NOT A CULTURED CITY. A lot of it is quite chavvy and apart from international students you hardly ever see any different types of people around.

    Thanks for the info.
