Re: B447 - Immigration Bill 2012How come it's in there then? Where did that "make immigration regional" strawman come from?(Original post by Ham and Cheese)
No, I am not under that childish assumption. Although, it would not be far off from the childish assumption that you make immigration regional and then expect them to remain in that region - oh wait.....

Re: B447 - Immigration Bill 2012
No one has considered the impact this bill would have on the welfare of cats and dogs in this country, given that keeping a cat has been held as an argument to remain in the UK, and would no longer be relevant in migration decisions. Under this bill a lot of cats and dogs would not have homes as many people would not want to keep one who would otherwise.

Re: B447 - Immigration Bill 2012Well we are only on the First Reading, which I regard as the draft stage of the legislation process - I will be refining the bill for the Second Reading over the next couple of days.(Original post by Addzter)

That is the Lib Dem immigration policy.... -
Re: B447 - Immigration Bill 2012I hope that comment was intended to be humorous....(Original post by barnetlad)

Re: B447 - Immigration Bill 2012You should probably take the bit about only letting in PhD grads during the freeze if you don't want to look like a retard.(Original post by Ham and Cheese)

Just because it's Lib Dem policy doesn't mean I agree with it. -
Re: B447 - Immigration Bill 2012Yes, especially given your picture in your signature of a person famed for wearing kitten heels.(Original post by Ham and Cheese)
I hope that comment was intended to be humorous.... -
Re: B447 - Immigration Bill 2012Oh I see(Original post by Addzter)

Well given you are a Lib Dem and I am yet to see an alternative immigration policy from your party, then I shall assume you do. -
Re: B447 - Immigration Bill 2012I think it's silly to assume that just because someone is a member of a party that they support all of that party's policies.(Original post by Ham and Cheese)
Oh I see

Re: B447 - Immigration Bill 2012Because?(Original post by Ham and Cheese)
What a ridiculous idea.... -
Re: B447 - Immigration Bill 2012Why do you like that? So someone who has moved here 20 years ago and is a full citizen and is part of society commits a small offence should be deported? Ridiculous.(Original post by JPKC)
No. This goes way too far.
On the upside, there are parts I'm inclined to like. "a) Immigrants who commit a criminal offence are deported to their country of origin irrespective of their immigration status.", for instance. -
Re: B447 - Immigration Bill 2012Small misdemeanours shouldn't count. I think that people who've made a conscious decision to move here should refrain from being criminal in the society that they've adopted. There are too many examples of career criminals arriving to do nothing but cause harm and damage.(Original post by davidmarsh01)

We can't deport someone who holds british citizenship, can we?
