By mistake wrote tangent, i have corrected it.

Sorry for the confusion it caused.

I see.. so the equation of a normal when referring to completing the square

it's always the x value of the minimum point?

What if this question ask for tangent instead of normal?

No. How do we find minimum points using calculus?

d2y/dx2 and if its less than 0 it is a maximum if it is more than 0 it is a minimum

The second derivative is positive not the gradient, gradient is zero.

Equation of tangent would be, y=258 y = - \dfrac{25}8

When you find the equation of normal at the stationary point than it will be the 'x' value of the stationary point.

yes, why

Erm no real reason. You must have C2 coming up soon, good luck.

I again say you please don't answer questions on the maths forum.

You always make it wrong, this causes confusion, so better leave it for more experienced mathematicians to try.

I think I should stay away from answering on the maths forum as well; My explanations are by no means the clearest.

I thought you were offline, so I tried seizing the opportunity

I didn't wanted to discourage answering questions, but i think only the experienced mathematicians should do it, otherwise it will become a trend of everyone trying to answer questions, even the ones who are themselves not clear with the topic, this will cause a lot of confusion.

I didn't felt the question was weird.

Just.

You dont think i will get an A? I will prove you wrong.

To be fair, I'd say I'm knowledgeable enough to answer a lot of the questions on the forum and can explain it pretty well. It's just that you're better at explaining so I never answer unless you're offline.

The questions wasn't at all weird, in my opinion.

Having never met you nor having ever seen how good you are at maths, why would I come to any conclusion as to what you can and can't achieve?
