Advice on a post
Hi, Im at college doing a graphic design diploma which should I pass I will be going to university of Portsmouth to do a Degree in Entertainment Technology. Part of my dioploma has been the use of Adobe Muse, Adobe have been running this as a beta version for the last year or more and the tutor of the course has been teaching it as one of the cores instead of Dreamweaver as in his opinion it will likely become an industry design tool for future designers as many of Adobes products do become industry standard. Well Adobe Muse has now come out of beta and is now being sold as retail at £12.00 per month, This is a figure I cant afford but to my amasement Adobe are not offering it on the Education Store to UK Students, I contacted Adobe and got the following responce
Chat InformationThank you for choosing Adobe. A representative will be with you shortly. Your estimated wait time is 0 minute(s) and 34 second(s) or longer as there are 1 customer(s) in line ahead of you.
Chat InformationYou are now chatting with Shivashankar.
Shivashankar: Hello! Welcome to Adobe Customer Service.
Shivashankar: Hi Geoff.
Geoff: hi
Geoff: your not showing student license for muse in the uk, im at further education college doing a graphic design diploma, and one of the elements is muse, I cant afford the full license and your not offering student price in the Uk so will not be able to complete my diploma as the trial will run out before I have to hand in my final project work, Without completing the diploma I will not get my expected place in University
Shivashankar: As I understand that you want to purchase the Education version software, am I correct?
Geoff: yes
Geoff: but your education store doesnt offer it in the uk
Shivashankar: Thank you for confirming.
Shivashankar: I'll be glad to check that for you.
Geoff: ok
Shivashankar: Geoff, I'm sorry to inform that Adobe Muse doesn't support for the Education version software.
Geoff: i know that, why?
Geoff: are uk students not worthy?
Shivashankar: I'm sorry, Geoff. Muse doesn't support for the Education version irrespective of the region. You must purchase the retail version software.
Geoff: ill be copying this chat and publishing it to the student community in the uk, this is poor as my tutor has put great store in this as a subject core
Shivashankar: I am extremely sorry for the inconvenience.
Shivashankar: I know, this experience can be disappointing and I apologize for putting you in a situation like this.
Geoff: obviously uk students are not worthy of adobe respect
Now I think this is highly descrimitory of Adobe undervaluing the UK education system, what Id like to know is how best to post this imformation without causing any hassle to the site or myself, But I feel that UK Students are being let down by Adobe and surely we should have a forum, where we can show our feeling to Adobe.
BTW as i said in my contact to Adobe, Im not going to be able to finish my diploma if I cant finish my Muse element of the project, also im a 51 year old Mature Student who has disabilities and has a very tight budget within the benefit system but I have been offered a provisional place at university on passing my Diploma.
Your advice would be appreciated

Re: Advice on a post
Since when was Dreamweaver an industry-standard tool?

Anyway, he's not saying that UK students can't get a discount, he's saying no students can, and as far as I can tell this is correct, there is no student edition of Adobe Muse.
So what exactly is the issue? Adobe can charge whatever price they like for their products, they made the damn things after all. They're not obliged to offer anything cheaper for students, although they already do with the Creative Cloud package, of which Muse is a part it seems. -
Re: Advice on a postThis, pretty much. If anything it's your teacher's fault for basing a mandatory course module around a piece of software that will eventually become inaccessible to the students.(Original post by Dez)

My thoughts exactly... it doesn't appear to be Adobe's fault, it's your tutor's fault!!
I would take this up with him, perhaps he would be happy to pick up the cost on this one?? I'm sure if you spoke with someone from your student support department they could help fund this... you may even be able to get the full Creative Cloud package.
