Re: French AQA AS level - 25th MayYou need to know present, perfect, imperfect, future and conditional tenses. If you want an A you need subjunctive as well. Try and use different constructions e.g. if sentences, apres avoir+past partciple(Original post by jammyeast)
Can anyone post on here what grammar we need to know?!
I literally know NOTHING.
you know like all si + imperfect = conditional??
is there more and what else should i revise?
really struggling i dont wanna fail haha cheers guys
Make sure you have a lot of ideas for the writing as well as most of the marks are for content

Re: French AQA AS level - 25th MayWhen it comes to grammar pretty much learn as much as you can. It also helps to throw in a subjunctive phrase.(Original post by jammyeast)

Re: French AQA AS level - 25th May
Mot a Mot is the most beautiful vocab book ever created. I practically worship it.
I've also been reading Harry Potter in French, which is actually quite helpful and I'm telling my Mum it's revision - she hasn't got a clue
Subjunctive is good to use, as well as "si" clauses. I'm not amazing at the writing section (that's an overstatement: I'm absolutely useless) but I've learnt that shoving loads and loads of points in it isn't necessarily the way to get the best marks.
I'm just glad the oral exams are over!!
Good luck to everyone sitting the exam

Re: French AQA AS level - 25th Mayjob equality? which topic is that x(Original post by *laurenlouise)
The topics that came up in January 2012 for the essays were healthy eating, job equality for men and women, fashion and teenagers and passive activities!
Does anyone have any good tips for translation or gap fill? Really struggling with them! -
Re: French AQA AS level - 25th May1) Pas toujours facile d'etre maman ou papa d'un adolescent. Mais l'adolescence est une période qui peut etre difficile pour les jeunes aussi. Les sujets de disputes au sein de la famille sont multiples.(Original post by Future Medics)
What were the essay topics in January 2012 ? Please someone reply / help me with this answer ???
Thank you very much!
Those are the three questions and from the Jan 2012 paper, sorry for any spelling mistakes! I was touch typing

Make sure you PEE (Point, Example, Explanation) all over your essay. ^.^ And remember to use the subjunctive if you want a really good grade. Also make sure you plan beforehand to get a good structure to your essay.
It's better not to repeat yourself as well for the better grades, which makes planning extra important.
Bonne chance, mesdames et messieurs!

Re: French AQA AS level - 25th MayHighly doubt, it :/ I wouldn't mind them asking the fruit and vegetables question but I don't think it's that likely. Sport hasn't come up in a while from what I can see so that's possible. The effects of alcohol and drugs seem like pretty common questions so it's a possibility too.(Original post by Future Medics)
So they won't ask you about these 3 again in May do you think ???
:O
Really I just want anything in the relationships unit to come up seeing as those are the topics I'm the most confident in. -

Who will be taking this exam 25th May ? And does anyone have any good tips/A level phrases, I wanted to start revising early...
What I'm doing is mainly vocab practice and grammar plus a few past papers

Re: French AQA AS level - 25th MayCoincidentally, they are the topics I hate the most :P But at least with French there's usually a big enough choice of writing questions that I'm good either way!(Original post by Chocip)

Re: French AQA AS level - 25th May
Taking this exam for the third time >
I always get high As on the first two sections but then bomb at the essay, pulling my grade down to a B/C when I need an A for uni!
My tips for the other two sections would be to look out for a subjunctive on the grammar section (they pretty much always throw one in to pick out the best candidates) and, if you're stuck between one word for two different spaces on the sections where you match a word to a sentence with a missing gap, put it in both! One of them has got to be right and it's better to lose one mark that way than two by choosing the wrong gap of the two and putting something else where it should have gone... if that makes any sense?
I always start with the essay question: plan it in detail, write it and then go back to it at the end of the paper to look out for any silly mistakes - easier to spot when you've had a break from it!
The annoying thing is that I got my paper back this year and had gotten only 42% on the essay part. I gave it to my teacher and my tutor and both believe I should have gotten a better mark. But I must have done something wrong... any ideas what it is that the examiners actually WANT from us? It's so subjective!
