Cardiff University 2012 Firmers
As much as the word 'firmers' annoys me, it seems the best way to sum up this thread. Many of the other threads seem a little out of date or not as relevant, so I thought I would start up a new one.
For anyone who has made Cardiff their firm choice for September, this is a place to discuss accommodation, courses and anything else really.
So to kick start the posts (I will laugh if no one else posts), i've placed Senghennydd Court as my first choice as I will be studying Astrophysics!
ps, if any one has actually already started such a thread, please let me know. -
Re: Cardiff University 2012 Firmers
I had a laugh, but then felt sorry and decided to post!

Firmed Engineering with a foundation year. First choice accommodation is Talybont court, followed by Cartwright court and then Senghennydd court!!
I'm actually bursting with excitement, just cannot wait!!
I insured Southampton, but the more I read about Cardiff, the more I will be gutted if I don't make my offer!!! Good motivation but!

Re: Cardiff University 2012 FirmersWell it's probably a good job that you decided to be nice and post as I am pretty sure the physics and engineering building are connected?(Original post by tweeto)

Yes, I know what you mean. I've put Leeds as my insurance, but I have to get into Cardiff. It's so goood. I just want to start the course tomorrow and skip my exams. -
Re: Cardiff University 2012 FirmersI've firmed Soton and insured Cardiff (for physics/maths duel honors), so let's hope we don't end up on the same place!(Original post by tweeto)

In reality though I'd be very happy to go to Cardiff, it's a great place and the city looks really nice. -
Re: Cardiff University 2012 FirmersYeah they are connected, really like the look of it!(Original post by Plutonium)

I know what you mean, I didn't want to go home when i visited!

Re: Cardiff University 2012 FirmersHaha, that would be pretty funny. Or you may end up in Cardiff and I may be at Soton!(Original post by Existentialistic)

I really loved the campus in Soton, but really didn't think much of the city. I mean I liked the docks and parts of the centre, but the rest......
Although in saying that it's a great insurance to have, as I said before I loved the campus!
I gave it a lot of consideration, but in the end another trip to Cardiff firmed my choice!

Re: Cardiff University 2012 Firmers
Firmed Cardiff for Law with French!
Still in a dilemma about which accommodation to choose, and really stressing out as it's first come first served! Anybody else really like the look of University Hall? Only problem is it's a really long distance from the city and main campus... -
Re: Cardiff University 2012 FirmersYeah I really liked it, although the distance thing was just too much. I want to be close to the city etc... at least for the first year!(Original post by never too late)

I put Talybont Court first choice, then Cartwright..... Can't wait!!

Re: Cardiff University 2012 Firmers
I firmed Cardiff for English Lit and I really hope I get the grades I need. My accommodation list looks like this:
colum hall
taly south
taly north reduced
taly north
taly north small
senghennydd court
uni hall (ensuite)
aberdare hall
uni hall
aberconway hall
but I'm not sure whether to update it and move senghennydd up the list, since taly north is quite a way out from the lecture halls, town etc.

Re: Cardiff University 2012 FirmersI've found a lot of people who have applied for Senghennydd Court(Original post by Karm)
Firmed Cardiff for Computer Science.
Accommodation wise, the Talybont's first followed by Senghennydd Court!
computer science sounds brilliant!

Re: Cardiff University 2012 FirmersYou must really want to go to Taly! It's too far away from physics, otherwise I may have gone there. Maybe move Senghennydd. I love Senghennydd! Although, it does depend on the located of your lectures.(Original post by H011y94)

Re: Cardiff University 2012 FirmersUniversity Hall looks beautiful! Depends on whether you fancy travelling so far every day really. Maybe make some lists. Pick the most important things (like cost and distance from lectures) and then see which places come highest. That's what I did(Original post by never too late)

Re: Cardiff University 2012 FirmersThat sounds like a good idea! Only trouble is I want everything...nice surroundings, close to lectures, cheap (ish), en suite, good atmosphere but not too loud aha! As I never made it to the initial open day, i'm at a bit of a disadvantage as I never saw any of the halls, so I've decided to go down for another visit and check them out(Original post by Plutonium)
