    scar on lip
im female and when i was 8 i fell ( cat tripped me up ) split my upper lip open and damaged my tooth. my tooth is all fixed now it has a veneer on it. but my lip has a slight bump on it. apart from that there is no scar on it. its scar tissue inside the bump. you know the part of your lip where it curves like the cupids bow or something one of those is where i have the bump. the bit of your lip right infront of your front tooth. i dont think i could get plastic surgery on it because the surgeon did the best he could with it back then. and im worried if i did it would turn out even worse looking.

no one notices it and if they do they dont say anything about it. my mum said you wouldnt know it was there unless you knew my history. yet i still feel bad when i see myself smiling in pics on fb and my lip looks weird i untag or delete straight away

before i got my veneer i was self conscious about it cause it was darker then my other teeth. and now that its fixed my lip is the problem now. no lad has ever said anything about it when we were kissing. infact ive always been told i was a good kisser.

i guess im trying to ask do lads find girls attractive if they have a scar on their lip ??? or are they grosss ??? what do other people think of people with lip scars ???????????????

Okay it's not a scar but my girlfriend has a freckle on her lip and I think it's well cute.
I'm pretty sure it wouldn't bother me

Your cat tripped you up? It's not quite an attack by Voldemort but still props for surviving

thanks for answering about the scar 0_o

it was dark outside, windy and wet.. middle of winter! we had gotten home late and my dad chased me out the backdoor screaming to feed the cat... so guess it was a mixture of everything next thing i know i woke up on the concrete drenched from the rain and tasting blood. it was quite scary i thought lost all my teeth and i had no tongue forgot to mention that i just happened to hit a vertical steel girder face first

i think i was lying outside cold for maybe 5 mins .. and the cat was bleedin massive too and mean !!

the a & e were so useless they sent me home that night and to come back the next morning. i remember waking up on my pillow dried blood was everywhere

If it makes you feel any better, I did something similar when I was 3 or 4 years old, but there was no cat involved and luckily my teeth were okay. I have a slight scar now that's kind of white, but it's not really noticeable so I just ignore it.

According to my mum, when the doctors in A&E were trying to stitch my lip/chin up I threw a tantrum and kept kicking them because it hurt so much. Mum had to physically restrain me...

i know this is bad but it does make me feel better to know im not the only one with a scar on my lip. im glad your teeth were ok my teeth are fine one just got dislodged had due to a root canal was discoloured. its nice and white now

haha fair play for kicking at least they tried to help you. i remember when i woke up the next morning. my lip had fused together and it was fine no bump. but whatever way those doctors fixed it up after they ripped it open to make sure it was clean they left a massive bump in it full of scar tissue. .....

i know its so small but im actually in tears remembering all the mean comments i got about my lip/teeth growing up in school. and im really worried it will stop me from i guess meeting someone who wants a relationship. i havnt had one yet. i guess im paranoid and i think it looks so horrible so one wants me

If you're too scared to put up a picture then we can't really honestly tell you whether or not it looks 'gross'. But it's very likely that it's not as bad as you think it is and that most people wouldn't notice it if they didn't know it was there. You know it's there, so it seems worse to you than it really is.
I've got a weird dark patch thing on my lip, I don't really know where it came from, I think it might be a birthmark? But it doesn't bother me that much, I can wear lipstick and nobody will notice...
And I'm sure that a lip scar doesn't affect your kissing ability! I looked up 'lip scar' on google images and I'd say that the vast majority of them aren't 'gross'...

Your lips don't define you, your personality does. If none of your past boyfriends have not noticed it, have had no issue with it and even say you're a good kisser, then you clearly have nothing to worry about. Every person on the planet thinks they have some sort of imperfection but we're all unique in our own way (even if it's a teeny tiny bump on your lip that no one notices except you!)

EDIT: What was I thinking... That was way out out of order, sorry
EDIT 2: lol I already removed what I said earlier so calm yourselves down!

I have scars and opened wounds all over my skin which is dry and cracked most of the time and I still have a girlfriend.
What a ridiculous thing to say, get over yourself.

It'd honestly make very little difference to how attractive I found you.

To me, people are in a very clear order of attractiveness, and minor changes like small scars to the face wouldn't change the order.

If somebody is attractive to begin with, minor scarring to the face or even a broken nose wouldn't change that very much.

The obvious things that would make you less attractive would be drastic weight gain or loss, an unusual change in hairstyle, or being unlucky with your ageing (how well you age probably comes into play once you reach about 30).

i got bitten in the face by my mates dog when i was about 13 which resulted in my lip being split open in 3 different places, think i had to have about 15 stitches (requiring several injections of local anaesthetic - i could have opted to go under general and stay overnight but im 'ard so no big deal) in the right hand side of my top lip.

this pic is pretty old but its the highest quality one i can find and i still have roughly the same face. http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...9_968474_n.jpg

if you want actual honest replies you've gotta post a pic up, otherwise you'll just get a bunch of well-meaning but ultimately empty reassurances.
