If firm choice accepts you on results day, can you still go through clearing?
If someone has firmed orthoptics, but would rather to optometry, and they see that there is an optometry place available through clearing but they have met their orthoptics offer which they firmed, can they still go grough clearing to try and get onto an optometry course?

Re: If firm choice accepts you on results day, can you still go through clearing? What about adjustment? Would a student be able to do that to try and get onto an Optom course?(Original post by marcusfox)
No, you must accept your choice. Clearing is for those who have been rejected by all their choices. -

But you can ask Liverpool/Sheffield to release you on results day, like we said, and see if anywhere has places (usually Anglia Ruskin and City have places. Manchester usually doesn't). -
Re: If firm choice accepts you on results day, can you still go through clearing? You would need to speak to the university who will be offering you a place.(Original post by composite)

Re: If firm choice accepts you on results day, can you still go through clearing?False. Extra is for people who have been rejected by all their choices. Clearing is for people who aren't holding an offer come results day - that could be by missing the grades required or by asking to be released, therefore enter Clearing.(Original post by marcusfox)

Re: If firm choice accepts you on results day, can you still go through clearing?Sorry to be quibbling over semantics, but it seems that if none of the universities you applied to make you an offer or you don't meet their grade criteria, they have thus all rejected you on that basis, and so surely you aren't holding an offer?(Original post by TheSownRose)

I did say that he needed to contact the institution if he wanted to change and go into clearing. -
