    Jobs for 16 year olds
Going to finish my gcses in june and will have about 2 months of summer holidays. Im thinking of getting a summer job but dont know where to apply. What are the best places for a 16 year old with no experience to apply. Also is there a minimum wage for 16 year olds and if so what is it? What kind of places are known to take on 16 year olds just for the summer?

well it'll probably be tough.... minimum wage for 16 is about £3.50 per hour...as for places im not really sure... i know the olympics were looking for people to cater etc.. although youve probably missed the interviews etc for it. Best thing is to just look around and see what you can find.

Best bet is somewhere where it's a family company, not a huge conglomerate, if you know what I mean.
Corner shops, petrol stations, green grocers.

Minimum wage for 16-18 is £3.68

If you're looking for experience over money then consider volunteering. (Google "do it uk")
It's great for the CV and often easier if you don't have any experience at all.

It generally depends. There are some shops that hire people in the summer with no experience if they have a good cv and positive attitude :-) But it's easier to find jobs around sept cause that's when there's more jobs around for people with no experience.

The min. Wage is £3.68 but majority of shops start paying you a little higher (unless it's small corner shops etc.)

    1. Olmypics will be a good place to go if you can- they have alot of job on offer
    2. if you're applying locally- be persistant. I had to give my cv in three times, as the receptionist kept losing it (I think binning it) so met the manager in person
    3. think carefully about what you may say if you need an interview
    4. apply now, as uni students in your area will be going back to their hometowns for summer most likely
    5. lifeguarding is a good one if you can, and Kumon - those are two easy ones to get into I think may be wrong
