Electronics AQA June 2012 Exam Thread
Hi,
There was no thread for this exam so I though I'd make one
So how is revision going?
Could any of you explain to me when making a frequency divider, you have to arrange the d-type flip flops in the "up" counting arrangement rather than "down" counting arrangement?
Thanks

Re: Electronics AQA June 2012 Exam Thread
Yeah, I know tell me about it. The last question was slightly annoying... It said use the minimum number of gates but didn't tell you how many to actually use. I managed to use only 5, but my friends used only 3 because they used a 3 input NOR gate at the end which I was not aware you could do... It will be interesting to see how they mark it.... :/

Re: Electronics AQA June 2012 Exam Thread
It was pretty good on the most part. I think the people who make the exams are a little bit crude with the questions. For the last question I did not know whether they wanted me to use a 3-input OR gate or string two, two input OR gates together to get the three input. Really they should make the questions a little bit clearer in my opinion. Also does anyone know if a 3-input OR gate was acceptable in the last question? because I drew it but my friends were telling me I should have used two.

Re: Electronics AQA June 2012 Exam Threadhmm I think the examiners will be lenient in the marking of this question both answers in my opinion are correct, lets just hope they don't penalize people for using the wrong combination.(Original post by geditor)

Re: Electronics AQA June 2012 Exam Thread
Ummm... not sure tbh... All the exams I've been taking recently have been quite unpredictable :/
I said logic 1 was when the switch was being pressed.
Also, what did everyone put for the solenoid symbol... I didn't have a clue what it was so I just drew a box with a line through it. -
Re: Electronics AQA June 2012 Exam Threadyes you drew the correct symbol for solenoid. for logic 1 i put its when voltage is above a certain level is that wrong(Original post by geditor)

I'm fairly sure both answers are acceptable, I used 5 2 Input NORs .(Original post by geditor)

I wrote when the output is high (9V) , but I think anything that mentions high/ 9Vs or similar will be fine.
Op Amps, more Op Amps and more Op Amps, probably with a shift register or binary counter made from D flips flops involved thrown in somewhere, and an advanced logic question.(Original post by tashaabc123)
any 1 have any ideas about wat questions will come on elec2 ?
To be honest Electronics exams are pretty predictable, look at ELEC1 from the last few years, and every one starts with a basic logic question, has the whole circuit block diagram question etc. Was disappointed there wasn't a zener diode question this year though
As long as it's reasonable you should be ok, anything past 3 is pushing it a bit but I don't think it matters.(Original post by geditor)
Do you know how strict the examiners are on significant figures?
I did forget the solenoid symbol though, just drew a box with "solenoid" written in it xDLast edited by iCiaran; 15-05-2012 at 16:56. -
Re: Electronics AQA June 2012 Exam ThreadI think this is some kind of filter, and filters have now been moved to the A2 spec, but if you treat it as a normal inverting amplifier you should be able to answer parts i) and iii)(Original post by geditor)
Can someone explain this question to me please? ( part ii)

I believe it's from June 06 ELE2, Question 6. -
Re: Electronics AQA June 2012 Exam Threadokay, thank you. I've done all the past papers going back to 2002 now I think; do you know any other good revision places/techniques that?(Original post by iCiaran)

So how is revision going?
