Re: Premier League Final Day ThreadLol well that is sport for you I guess!!(Original post by James A)
reminds me of the 2008 f1 world championship.
Massa had won the championship for about 20 seconds until Lewis Hamilton overtook someone in the last corner of the last lap to give him the 5th place he needed to become the world champion!!! -
Re: Premier League Final Day ThreadExactly what I thought. In the back of my mind, I feel as though Bolton lost us the league!(Original post by Sephiroth)
Wouldn't surprise me if QPR let the goals in after finding out they were safe. -
Re: Premier League Final Day ThreadWhy? Nobody expected them to win this year as they're still building. They're ahead of schedule in their plan.(Original post by Woffles)
Might just be the funniest comment i've heard on here in a while.
They won the league by the skin of their teeth on the very last game of the season. The way some people are acting would seem that they'd won every single trophy and dominated the season from start to finish. I agree that they've done well and deserve every bit of credit, but to presume that they're now taking over is ridiculous.
But another factor is that United are sliding. They should never have let City win the league and their squad is horrid compared to previous years. Once Fergie goes it'll be interesting to see what happens to that team. -
Re: Premier League Final Day ThreadNope, not a City fan.(Original post by TheHansa)
City fan?
Man United make far more profit than their local rivals who make no profit, and they will do for the forseeable future, City will be the next Chelsea, win a few trophies for a few years before falling down the league table because they bought overpriced players and pledged to pay them too much for two long in the contracts.
Yeah, United make more profit for now but look who owns them.
Also remember that we are talking about this issue in the context of Nasri choosing City over United. So "win a few trophies for a few years" is spot on I'd say. Wouldn't you? -
Re: Premier League Final Day ThreadAnd not the extensive commercialisation of football, diving, play acting and rare moments of racism?(Original post by vedderfan94)
I too am neither a City fan nor a United fan. But tbh your attitude is what is ruining the EPL. The team who play the best football overall win the league. That was true when United won all those titles and that is still true for City today.

Man Utd were supposed to be restructuring the squad, so to almost win during years which are supposed to have been difficult for them with the younger players coming through, without Vidic for half the season, is to their credit.Last edited by TheHansa; 14-05-2012 at 10:04. -
Re: Premier League Final Day ThreadAgreed, beating more than 100 million pounds worth of signings with his budget is no mean feat by Moyes.(Original post by ish90an)
Surprised no one's talked about Everton finishing above Liverpool, Jelavic's been another good Moyes signing.
Although, it isn't really noteworthy to fans as Liverpool are still better off than Everton at the end of it - Liverpool get a spot in Europe, Everton don't. -
Re: Premier League Final Day ThreadI don't think it's fair to say that "City will be the next Chelsea", Chelsea's problems have also been down to Abramovich being too trigger happy with his managers. Let's also not forget that Chelsea can still make this a great season for themselves.(Original post by TheHansa)

Also, it's highly likely that Chelsea will be back up there come next season. Likewise, Manchester City may have one bad "transitional" season, but as long as they have Sheikh Mansour, it's unlikely that they'll drop out of the top 4 AND stay there.Last edited by justinawe; 14-05-2012 at 14:38. -
Re: Premier League Final Day ThreadTbh I think it has already been a good season for Chelsea even if they don't win the Champions League. Although they've had their lowest league finish for a while, they've won the FA Cup and beaten Barcelona on the way to reaching the final. I'd be pretty content if I was a Chelsea fan. Of course winning the Champions League would make it sweeter(Original post by justinawe)

Re: Premier League Final Day ThreadNah, for a club like Chelsea, not finishing in the Champions League spots is a bad season. That's why the CL final is so important for them now - not only is it Abramovich's dream trophy, it is also their only way of securing a Champions League spot for next season.(Original post by ForensicShoe)

Re: Premier League Final Day ThreadAnd what does the man himself say about the matter?(Original post by S-man10)
Nasri knew what he was doing, he is smart. Good job belittling about something which already know
And its fun playing with superior players who help you win
"People at Arsenal tried to make out that I came here for the money,"
"I hope they are watching me now collecting my Premier League winner's medal*. I believe they have not won a trophy for many seasons now.
"If all that I was interested in was money, the easiest decision would have been to stay at Arsenal, picking up my money every week and walking into the team - there are many people doing this right now at Arsenal.
"I made the hard choice to come and fight for my place at a big club, where they never settle for second best, and I have proved it correct.
"I now hope the Arsenal fans can get on with their lives and forget me.
"They should celebrate their third-place achievement and I will focus on winning titles."
