Re: PC power buttonWhat are you trying to achieve here... how would you turn your machine on if you re-purposed it?(Original post by nick369)
Hi, I want to change the function of the power button on the front of my PC, but when I go into power options in control panel there is no option to change it. (I'm using XP)
Can anyone help? -

Re: PC power buttonI think he means change it to cause 'sleep' instead of shut down but keep it as turn on.(Original post by Mad Vlad)
What are you trying to achieve here... how would you turn your machine on if you re-purposed it? -
Re: PC power buttonI want to change what it does when the pc is on already. If I accidently knock it, it will automatically shut down, I want it to bring up the option like when you do start, turn off PC(Original post by Mad Vlad)

Re: PC power buttonI'm actually confused about what your asking exactly?(Original post by nick369)
I want to change what it does when the pc is on already. If I accidently knock it, it will automatically shut down, I want it to bring up the option like when you do start, turn off PC
So you want to change the function of the power button so when you knock your pc accidently you dont it to turn off? -
Re: PC power buttonIf I accidently knock the power button on the front it will shut down, I don't want it to do that(Original post by Iqbal007)

Re: PC power buttonIt's the power button, it's purpose is to turn on and off your computer.(Original post by nick369)

Just cover up the buttonLast edited by Iqbal007; 14-05-2012 at 02:17. -
Re: PC power buttonAre you completely missing the point?(Original post by H.C. Chinaski)
erm ..... and that will turn your machine on precisely how.......??
He wants to change what XP does when he presses the power button. If there's no OS running/if the computer is turned off, it functions as power-on, power-off. He wants to change it so it puts it into sleep or something when XP is running and he presses it.
Not that difficult a concept, really. -
Re: PC power buttonNo, no not at all ...
the problem is that you responded to Mad Vlad and indeed quoted him .... let me refresh your memory ....

Re: PC power buttonOther than the fact that that I misread 'on' as 'off', I fail to see how my reply was even remotely as stupid as his initial post.(Original post by H.C. Chinaski)

Re: PC power button... Which was the exact point that Mad Vlad was making before you came back "correcting Him" (Ahem....)(Original post by CJKay)
