Re: Have you guys all started revising yet ?
if you guys need any advice with general GCSE advice feel free to PM me, or quote me
or a particular subject I may be able to help. I sat 26 exams in one go last year so if you need advice about time management, stress etc I could give you some tips from my experience.
The 6-7 week GCSE period is long and does get tiring, but the key to success is hanging in there and staying positive! -
Re: Have you guys all started revising yet ?
OP - don't worry too much about revision. Although I wouldn't advise you listen to me, as my food tech grade's a D. I got better marks on the exams I didn't revise for, most of the time.
If you're talking about Mechanics - the OP's posted this in GCSEs.(Original post by FloydHead)

Re: Have you guys all started revising yet ?I did this last year and I'd fully recommend preparing for section 1, as it'll be easier marks to compensate for on section 2.Good luck(Original post by shyamshah)
I've got food tech too. Have you prepared for section 1 at all?
I did all my revision the weekend before and self taught it as we didn't have lessons in food tech, so its mostly about memorizing in my opinion. -
Re: Have you guys all started revising yet ?Yeah, I have prepared for section 1 but still need to do a lot more. I didn't do very good in the coursework so I need to get at least an A in this exam to get a B overall, but I am dreading this exam.(Original post by AishaTara)

Yeah, I have prepared for section 1 but still need to do a lot more. I didn't do very good in the coursework so I need to get at least an A in this exam to get a B overall, but I am dreading this exam.
ahh another thing, the grade boundaries are high for the coursework yes, and in general you'll get the same grade as your coursework, unless your exam paper is a two grades above your coursework. -
Re: Have you guys all started revising yet ?Oh thank you for telling me that. My teacher didn't tell me what grade I got but most likely it was a B/C so I need to get an A/A* in the exam. Didn you enjoy doing food tech?(Original post by AishaTara)

Re: Have you guys all started revising yet ?I hated it :/ just because it was more effort than understanding etc, and I found some of it common sense, apart from the specialist terms. A* on a paper -you need to use the correct terminologies. Look at 2011 june paper if you can, it'll be most like that. Yeah an A in the exam, will balance out a C/B tp a B probably.(Original post by shyamshah)

Here are last years grade boundaries- higher than I expected too.
A* was 94% in the coursework, and 88% in the exam. -
Re: Have you guys all started revising yet ?in coursework for food tech, yes its easier to get a good mark defo, but easier to prepare for the exam in my opinion as it doesnt take as long as the coursework.(Original post by goldstander212)
Hopefully, it turns out good guys
And tbh with you...... am dreading the exam too ; i did well in my coursework though
but still need to get a good grade in exam ; which is near impossible :P
Here are lasy years grade boundaries:

Re: Have you guys all started revising yet ?I can't find june 2011 but I have done 4 past papers already. I have hated doing it also, it is way tooo much effort. Im looking for an A but I don't honestly believe I will achieve it.(Original post by AishaTara)

Re: Have you guys all started revising yet ?ah probs because its used for mocks, as its the only one with the new spec. I'll have a look for it though, and ah how did you do in past papers?(Original post by shyamshah)
