How many hours/days to student nurses spend in lectures? :)
Hello I was just wondering how many hours a student nurse a week goes to lectures? I already know they do around 37/38 hours of practical I just want to know how many hours they have to do a week on the theory side? (1st year)
Also do you have much spare time to socialise on weekends and stuff?

Re: How many hours/days to student nurses spend in lectures? :)
depends on the uni but at mine this year we did: monday and thursday 10-4, and tuesday 9:30-1pm.
in first year we were with adults at a different campus so we did monday, tuesday and thursday 10-4.
cant help with the petrol though as i dont have a car but my tutor has been pretty great at placing those of us who didnt drive as close as she could to where we live, so its only been like a 15 minute bus ride away. but some of the ones who do drive have had a journey of around 40 minutes by car for some placememnts, which you can claim back if its further away than you would have to drive to your lectures. -

as a pre-registratation student expect to have pretty full weeks regardless of whether you are in Uni or on placement there isn't a huge amount of slack to get your 4600 hours in especially if you have more than 7 weeks / year programmed as leave / study leave ...

I spent about 3/4 whole days in uni a week. You need to complete 2300 of theory in the whole three years so it's pretty intense. I had plenty of time to do well in theory & placement, work and maintain a social life, it's just about time management.
As for petrol that depends how far away your placement! Mine were about 13 miles from home so I spent about £25 a week. x
