Any good christian book recommendation?
Summer is coming soon, and I want to immerse myself in reading some inspirational spirit filling books. I've heard Crazy Love by Francis Chan is good. I'm planning to read that. I'm wondering what else can I read...
Btw I love reading biographies and reading testimonies. Some of my favorite books are Heavenly Man by Bro. Yun and Dare to Dream by Mattheus Van Der Steen. -

I absolutely love books about and by Corrie ten Boom! She is one of my role models who I respect so much! Before the Nazis invaded Holland, she took care of children with special needs, which is so awesome!!! After the Nazis invaded, she and her family hid Jewish people and strived to rescue them from death. Because of this, her family was arrested, her Dad died in jail, and her sister died in a concentration camp. Corrie ten Boom was also in the concentration camp, but God rescued her and she dedicated the rest of her life to teaching about Jesus' love and forgiveness to the world!!! So, if you haven't read The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom, I recommend it!
Other books that are interesting are the following:
The Problem with Pain by C.S. Lewis
The set of books by Eric and Leslie Ludy - love them!
When God Writes Your Love Story - The Ultimate Approach to Guy/Girl Relationships - 10-year anniversary edition {1998}
When Dreams Come True - A Love Story Only God Could Write {2001}
Authentic Beauty - The Shaping of a Set-Apart Young Woman {2003}
God's Gift to Women - Discovering the Lost Greatness of Masculinity {2003}
When God Writes Your Life Story - experience the ultimate adventure {2004}
Teaching True Love - The Ultimate Guide for Parents {2005}
The First 90 Days of Marriage - Building the Foundation of a Lifetime {2006}
Meet Mr. Smith - Revolutionize the Way you Think About Sex, Purity, and Romance {2007}
The Bravehearted Gospel - The Truth is Worth Fighting For {2008}
Set-Apart Femininity - God's Sacred Intent for Every Young Woman {2008}
Answering the Guy Questions - The Set-Apart Girl's Guide to Relating to the Opposite Sex {2009}
Wrestling Prayer - A Passionate Communion with God {2009}
Sacred Singleness - The Set-Apart Girl's Guide to Purpose and Fulfillment {2009}
The Lost Art of True Beauty - The Set-Apart Girl's Guide to Feminine Grace {2010}
I love Francine Rivers' books... just finished The Prince, which is a work of fiction about Jonathan, the son of the first king of Israel. Although it's fiction, it does give interesting insight. I also love her book about Rahab. She is an amazing author!
There are others too but those are the main ones I can think of right now.
Peace and God bless! -
Re: Any good christian book recommendation?I love eric and leslie ludy too!! I watch their videos and I've heard a lot about their book "When God Writes Your Love Story" I'm hoping to watch the set-apart girl conference simulcast.(Original post by Christianlady)

Jesus of Nazareth, Part 1 and Part 2, by Pope Benedict, are supurb commentaries on the Gospels which any Christian could read and enjoy from a Mozart of Theology.

Wether you are an athiest or a christian, the concept of eternity exists. Wether you beieve you will be dead forever or in heaven forever. What ever happens will certainly be forever.
Its healthy to think about life after death because we are 'dead' longer than were alive. 80years is nothing right? Think of the people who died in 0AD, theyve been dead up to today.
People always talk about preparing for the itermediate future. Career paths and goals. However only a fool wouldnot prepare for the invevitable long term future, eternity.
As christians we have a light a ray of hope applicable to everysateg of our life.
Motivational talks im afriad are only benifcial for the young, not for the old and wise. How would you inspire an old person as mentioning sucess and goals would only imply they have a time. which they dont.
However christainity will shine no matter how old or young you are. This is why old people tend to be bitter. That uncertainty of not knowing what will take place after 'death'.
It must be painful, people must not think of it. The actions of a fool. -
Re: Any good christian book recommendation?thanks.. i was thinking of novel in terms of just a long prose.. i never really dug deep and thought it was fiction(Original post by ChampEon)
A novel is a a fictitious prose narrative usually of book length. So you shouldn't let him insult your religion like that.
i wasn't hoping to open up any debates... i just wanted to keep this thread as friendly as possible....
the bible is definitely not fiction... end of topic. please.. i don't want any arguments in this thread.. start another thread for that.. -
Re: Any good christian book recommendation?I'm sorry for bringing it up, but I just didn't want people constantly insulting and ridiculing Christianity how they do to Islam.(Original post by desertautumn)

Re: Any good christian book recommendation?i'm actually glad you did...so i had the chance to rectify my mistake. I'm sorry that they're also ridiculing Islam..i believe that no matter how different our beliefs are... we ought to respect each other(Original post by ChampEon)

I can vouch for C.S. Lewis, great writer. In all forms of prose. So What's the Difference? by Fritz Ridenour is another good one. -
