1st choice?: Since I doubt i'll get into Cambridge, probably, but I'm not even sure if I stand a good chance at Durham :/ Pretty sure I'll have 3 As but probably a C in physics since I failed the exam, and the Durham offer is A*AA so a C at AS in something that could be seen as relevant to the Bsc won't exactly look great..All added. Did anyone else get the email about changes to entry requirements? So upset about the change to Modern Languages... an offer of AAB would have been perfect

Re: Durham Applicants 2013 entrySimilar situation for me! I've decided to book for the September Open Day because I really want to see it. If the accommodation goes quickly next time, I may just book into a travel lodge.(Original post by Etoile)
Hey you guys, Durham is really far away from me and by the time I went to book the open day, all the accommodation had gone, so I decided not to visit. Is that a really bad idea? Considering that it may end up my first choice.

I know people who didn't really go to any open days but visited after they had their offer. If the main reason or one of the reasons you want to go to Durham is it's great reputation, then tbh not seeing it won't be a huge issue. But if the college choice is a really big one, or the location and city atmosphere, then it's probably best to try to visit, sometime before you apply or after you receive an offer. -
Re: Durham Applicants 2013 entryNo, they don't any more.(Original post by Llewellyn)
Hold on a second... Do Durham actually interview? I assumed they did but I can't find any evidence on their website or on here... -
Re: Durham Applicants 2013 entryI have problems with the two open days in June. I'll be going to the september one instead (which is quite annoying!). Have you booked your place now? I thought booking opened 6 weeks beforehand?(Original post by anniema)

I agree, it's not ideal really to go in September! But I'm hoping that it means that the main thing I'll be looking at on the Open Day is colleges as hopefully I'll be all sorted for most of the other aspects of my application by then. -
Re: Durham Applicants 2013 entrySo I guess it's just AS grades + GCSEs + Personal Statement? I suppose that works okay for anyone who has a good application on paper... but choosing candidates for arts and humanities courses must be quite difficult.(Original post by 117r)
No, they don't any more.
Looking at their website, Durham say that they are looking for well-rounded people (basically) so I think the Personal statement must have quite a bit of weighting.
