The problem is that people who aren't in to tattoos rarely get to see decent tattoos, and thus think that all tattoos are dodgy tribal or tramp stamps.
    Some tattoos are absolutely beautiful.

I don't think I've ever seen a tattoo that I've been a fan of. Always look very trashy imo, even the best ones. Though I appreciate some people get them for a meaningful reason.

I don't have any tattoos and I've never wanted any. If people want to get them, fine, that's up to them. Personally I'm not a fan. I don't really care about them one way or another. Mind you if somebody is covered head to toe in tattoos then it looks ridiculous. I think facial tattoos tend to look rubbish as well. As for elsewhere on the body....meh....personal choice I suppose.

That has got to the be the most difficult to read poll ever. My eyes hurt
Hehe, it's up there with em eh.. was necessary to make it a little wordy/include multiple options in order to capture the effects of gender and whether the person themselves had tats as these things may influence peoples' attitudes, and indeed such influences are in themselves interesting :holmes:

There can be some really spectacular tattoos if done correctly also the ones with a meaning behind them i think are wonderful as well. Theres a stigma attached to having a tattoo but if you want one and you have a good reason who cares what other people think? Some people with tattoos are knobs others are very kind. Just dont get tattoos of bloody stars and useless crap on your foot or the other day saw a tattoo on a guys forearm saying beast, i mean really beast??

Mate it's kinda obvious, people with tattoos like them, and people without them don't like them.
    Hardly groundbreaking research.

I only like small ones, sometimes big ones can look good. What a big poll though...

One is latin for "Everything happens for a reason" and the other is " what doesn't kill you makes you stronger."
Could you have made them any more generic and meaningless?

I think tattoos look trashy on both men and women, I especially hate it when a friend or anyone shows off their tattoo and I feel like I have to say "wow that's so nice" or something. I usually just don't say anything whilst trying not to let the cringe show on my face

Its not generic and meaningless because I was brought up to believe it and I genuinely believe both quotes. At least I didn't get stars or a butterfly!

I think tattoos can look really amazing on women, since they can tend towards more flowing, delicate designs.

Whereas tattoos on men carry a certain stigma, and are often more aggressively styled.
i to disagree, not all male tattoos are aggressively styled my dad has a beautiful flowing phoenix over his shoulder...its powerful at the same time but not aggressive at all
    (Original post by TheHansa)
Tattoos are a digusting thing however small, especially the stars people get on their feet.

generally people who get tattoos have awful personalities
well that was a stupid comment.
my mum is a tattoo artist and she has many tattoos and some of the loveliest, most interesting people she has met are through tattoos so don't talk such rubbish

Haha sooo true...the thing about tattoos is that they are personal and you shouldn't have to justify them to anyone but you are right, stars and butterflies are so cliche atm

i went through a gallery of about 150 pics from a local tatoo parlour and apart from about 5 which seemed to have some kind of meaning, they were all attrocious, looked ugly and gross. there was even one with a FATASS TWILIGHT TATOO across the belly.
