    Cognitive bias in action
Call it what you want, of course I'm going to try and justify this course of action - but the argument is logical.

    Fair enough
Good luck, at any rate. It'd probably be successufl on the fact that the ground boundaries are so low

That's what i'm doing.. I don't really see the problem or the large risk involved.
For 45 mark, I will always get a choice of at least 2 questions and for the 15 mark, I will always get a choice of at least 3 out of 5. Im really just so lazy that i probably wouldnt do it any other way.. !

This is exactly my point - as long as you know all 3 well enough, the risk is minimal if at all there.

Any potential questions you think will come up? I'm thinking maybe 'at the heart of liberalism lies a fear of unchecked power' one and 'conservatism is merely a ruling-class ideology'. Chip in with 15 and 45 markers...

i'd probably talk about organic society, how and why conservatives value hierachy, and how newer forms of conservatism have moved away from that for a more liberal-meritocratic-technocratic societal structure

what would you write for the liberalism one?
Talk about Lord Acton's 'Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely'

Refer to the notion of liberal democracy.
    Internal checks and balances
    internal fragmentations
    safeguarded civil liberties,etc

Talk about the negative aspects of democracy for liberals.

All show why liberals fear power.

How would you break down this question?

To what extent is there tension in parliamentary socialism between an acceptance of capitalism and support for equality and social justice?

How does that work? You're asked to do 3 questions, if you have revised 3 ideologies (liberalism/conservatism/anarchism) then surely you would just do those 3 questions?

Ahh i see what you mean now.. the anarchism and marxism question - thats fair enough, but if you do anarchism in the text book, it explains the links and differences of the two regarding the state..
Oh yeah, but you'd have to remember enough about the Marxism bit and understand what's going on.

Not necessarily, as explained earlier, in January 2012 if you had totally passed on socialism, you only had 2 questions from the 15 markers which related solely to the other ideologies.

Plus there is no guarantee that a 45 marker won't be repeated, as in 2 questions from the same ideology. I very much doubt they'd do that, but it's possible and the last question could be a nightmare!

You could speak about capitalism's tendencies for great inequality and hence the critique of capitalism. Socialism is defined by full equality and so parliamentary socialism would find it difficult to accept capitalism and at the same time provide the equality prescribed by Marx et al.

On the other side you could say that parliamentary socialists have argued that capitalism is the only means tested way of providing actual prosperity and it can be harnessed (Keynesian), therefore wealth can be redistributed and thus support equality and social justice.

hmm what were the jan 2012 15 mark questions?
i highly doubt that there would be 2 ideology the same questions for 45 marks.. either way i dont have time to cover a whole new ideology now!

don't see how u can do anarchism without socialism, considering basically a lot of anarchsim is modified marxism.

that is true but within anarchism itself it discusses all socialism/marxism that is relevant to anarchism itself.. so i don't really see the issue.
