Re: French aqa listening exam 14th may 2012Everything above 30 is likely to be an A*, so stay optimistic and let's hope you get A*. I didn't get any questions with food items in... does everyone get a different CD?(Original post by A193)
what grade would you say i got, if i think around 28/40 if i'm pessimistic, or 32/40 if i'm optimistic, please tell me because i'm curious
for curry i wrote that it is spicy

Re: French aqa listening exam 14th may 2012
For the curry, she said it was spicy, but she liked that - it was too cold;
For the tart, they said it didn't have enough sugar - "amer" means bitter;
For the steak, he said it was "saignant", which means rare "j'ai horreur de ca" - he hates that.
That was BY FAR the hardest listening paper I had done, let's hope the grade boundaries reflect that! -
Re: French aqa listening exam 14th may 2012I got that he wanted to go on a walk before leaving, but was disappointed because there too many people or something like that :P(Original post by milworthy)
If you are french perhaps you can help me??? In the absolute last question did he say anything about feeling ill for a few days? And also did the dad say on the camping trip that he was disappointed because he wanted to do some walks because he couldn't (because there were too many people)
I completely flopped that exam :| -
Re: French aqa listening exam 14th may 2012
Guys, I know it costs 69p, but if you have an iPod touch or iPhone or similar, you should buy this app called Cramit. It's amazing and has all the necessary vocab (about 1500 words-ish?). I feel like a proper salesperson.

Probably a bit late now, but worth checking out... -
Re: French aqa listening exam 14th may 2012is rare steak the same as undercooked?(Original post by TtTtT)

Re: French aqa listening exam 14th may 2012I would say so. you are probably safe with that.(Original post by user1-4)
is rare steak the same as undercooked? -
Re: French aqa listening exam 14th may 2012so for the steak bit, they thought it wasn't cooked how they liked it? That's what I put but everyone else said that was wrong, it was too fatty.. confused!(Original post by TtTtT)

Re: French aqa listening exam 14th may 2012You may still be right but this I heard "trop gras" which means too fatty/greasy.(Original post by Georacer)

Re: French aqa listening exam 14th may 2012
i thought my french listening went pretty awful too, but the day after the exam, my teacher had a copy of the transcript and we kinda figured out the answers. here are some of the answers i can remember
question 1 was homeless, then racism
qestion 2 was he loved his job, then that he enjoyed working with kids
question 3 was she was the envy of her friends and her opinion was influential
the food one went curry-was cold
tart-less sugar
steak-too bloody
dessert-too much cream.
the relationship one was that he was too possesive and didn't want her to spend time with other people and he hasn't seen her since last wednesday. this had a negative impact on his studies and he regrets it enormously.
if only i had these answers in the exam :P anyway hope it helps -
Re: French aqa listening exam 14th may 2012pessimistic(Original post by milworthy)
was the woman in mali pessimistic or optimistic? -
Re: French aqa listening exam 14th may 2012
Wow! This has been interesting to see what everyone put for the answers! Definitely found the paper hard!
Also, me and my year were in the hall so the cd was really muffly and it was echoey so hard to understand anyway!
Totally didn't understand the last question! Also, the question about the man's holiday was really confusing!
Definitely agree about this paper being harder than all the past papers!
Let's hope the grade boundaries reflect this!
About the curry question, I put "too spicy" because I didn't hear the "too cold" comment
However, the furniture shop/factory question was definitely factory because he said that he cleaned them and then gave the beds to the shops to sell -
Re: French aqa listening exam 14th may 2012Oh God didn't write any of that stuff(Original post by nornor16)

Re: French aqa listening exam 14th may 2012I completely agree with you! I found the cd very hard to understand too as it was muffly (especially the deep men's voices) and I was sat quite close to the speakers.(Original post by Molly_D)
