Re: What do you think about #TurnToIslam trending worldwide on Twitter?
it's sad that all of you are fighting so much about this.
If you don't like islam, okay, you don't like it. but no need to prejudice other people's views. let them find out the truth on their own
If you don't like the trend, please get over yourself. it's a trend. started by muslims who are passionate for their religion. big deal. it's not physically forcing you to convert now, is it?
If you're trying to defend Islam on here, don't bother. there are obviously some very ignorant people on here who will take the first Muslim-hating view they see and latch onto it. leave them be. it's their loss. -
Re: What do you think about #TurnToIslam trending worldwide on Twitter? If it was turn to Christianity there wouldnt be an issue but you "open minded" person have an issue with turn to Islam and its not just that you are being the devils advocate and worried that people may misinterpret it you think "its a little inapropriate"(Original post by JaquelleSade)
Don't get me wrong, I am not against Islam or the trend itself! I just feel with the tensions rising from prejudice 'traditional ones', I think this trend may be a bit risqué. And of course if it was 'Turn to Christianity' there undoubtedly would not be an issue, as unfortunately we do live in a world of hypocrisy.
Im not a muslim but surely if you have an issue with proselytizing it should be uniform and if there not doing anything wrong and simply being misinterpreted surely thats the fault of the people misinterpreting. -
Re: What do you think about #TurnToIslam trending worldwide on Twitter?Won't or can't? Please stop talking absolute babble and return to preaching to the uneducated. Afterall, they are the only people that truly believe in religion.(Original post by Student296)
It is clear from your post that there is no point in arguing with you so I'm not even going to bother. -
Re: What do you think about #TurnToIslam trending worldwide on Twitter?I am talking about society, as in if it was turn to Christianity (The British) society would not have a problem and this is a form of hyprocrisy, NOT myself personally! I am stating that this is wrong. Ofcourse I completely agree with you, what I am expressing is that there is a lot of hatred towards Islam (this is a bad thing) and that this trend could heighten problems. I was only asking if people feel that society is not so no narrow minded to condem a religion for this innocent trend or if they felt it could lead to problems, what with EDL and BNP on the rise. I think just as you have, many people have read my comments wrong.(Original post by greatmonte)

Re: What do you think about #TurnToIslam trending worldwide on Twitter?I think to make such a bold statement about religion is rather brave and yet so stupid. To suggest that religous believers are uneducated is infact an uneducated statement. Isaac Newton, Einstein, Francis Bacon are just a few of our most well educated people who all believed in religion. A wise saying is if one cannot disprove something then one cannot dare deny it. There are many unexplained happenings, events and miracles which science cannot explain nor can we human beings. Religions has it's pros AND cons, yet so do human being do we dare deny them?(Original post by Blackburn_Allen)

Re: What do you think about #TurnToIslam trending worldwide on Twitter? The burden is on the theists to prove that a mythical man built the planet, orbital system, explain evolution and the thousands of other things that cannot be explained through the creationist story, unless you count "because God did it" as a reasonable explanation, that is.(Original post by JaquelleSade)

Isaac Newton was also around when people didn't know of gravity and the world was flat. Einstein wasn't a theist that believed in a deity, his views religious views are controversial but judging by his interviews and speeches he is leaning towards agnosticism or spinozism. To even claim that Einstein was a religious man is ridiculous. If Einstein was about during the reign of religious rule he'd have been strung up as a heretic and his work torched. You are an idiot for even trying to bring him into a debate in which you are claiming theism is right.
Can you explain these miraculous events that cannot be possibly explained? I'd like to see a trend occurring and not just a list of scientific outliers. And can you also try and point out why religion should be taken seriously in the 21st century and why we shouldn't dismiss it for the murderous, tyrannical belief that most people take it for? -
Re: What do you think about #TurnToIslam trending worldwide on Twitter? You blame the hate on "Extremist Muslims", when your own nation has invaded and killed millions of Muslims. When you have many right wing, bigoted, Islamaphobic groups that want Muslims removed.(Original post by JaquelleSade)
I was asking for opinions not a bloody lecture, at no point did I state that I did not like the trend, however instead I stated that with all the prejudism in Britain today because of extremist muslims this trend could encourage hate. If you cannot understand what is written then do not reply! And as for you claiming that 'we' cannot understand how it feels to understand what the 'truth' is, well that is wrong. Atheisms believe that their is no God through their eyes, their faith is strong, just as Christians believe that Jesus is the son of God. For them these are also facts, as a Christian I know how this feels. Please do not be so arrogant, respect for all religions is what is needed, no need to be so uptight!
Your delusion is in the belief that if there wasn't any "extremist muslims", there would be joy and love between everyone.
This is why you lose credibility in your claim and your lack of understanding. As if you were born yesterday or something.Last edited by Perseveranze; 15-05-2012 at 21:55. -
Re: What do you think about #TurnToIslam trending worldwide on Twitter?I think they do, largely -hence why you spend so much of your time copy and pasting islamic rhetoric on TsR threads........(Original post by Perseveranze)
Turning to God, is turning to Islam.
And with all due respect, but I don't think Muslims care what others think about our faith. -
Re: What do you think about #TurnToIslam trending worldwide on Twitter?Well your the one with the problem, clearly living in a state of Neo-Islam! duh, if extremists were not around ofcourse there would be some issues, just as there are issues between races, genders and all religions! I do not lose credibility as I am not justifying anything. If we all had attitudes like you then there would be more extremists, aren't you meant to promote peace. I am glad I have never encounted such a narrow minded person, in my place of study we are all different religions, races etc and we have resepect for one another, and happily co-exist.(Original post by Perseveranze)

Re: What do you think about #TurnToIslam trending worldwide on Twitter?Erm, as a Christian you should be angry that Islam exists. Islam by it's very existence states that Christianity is wrong and has been perverted. Mohammed took Christianity and harnessed it's power to create his own cult to hold his empire together. It is no different to Mormonism - aside from the fact it is responsible for thousands of deaths per month of course.(Original post by JaquelleSade)
As a person who is very open minded I have found that Islam is a loving and beautiful religion, even though I am a strong Christian. Unfortunately in recent years due to a minority of extremists, Islam has had a lot of negative media coverage. So when I saw #TurnToIslam trending I could not help but think this is going to provoke anger amongst many who are unaware of the real teachings of the Qur’an. Also I felt it is a little inappropriate, Twitter is not the place to promote absolutistic ideas or meta-narratives, religion is a personal choice and when any one religion is promoted too vigorously it seems to have a negative effect. Turn to God may have been a better idea or to not start the trend at all; what do you think? -
Re: What do you think about #TurnToIslam trending worldwide on Twitter?I am not angry I practice agape love, I do not have hatred or anger for any human being nor society. Looking at Islam I see it mirrors many of the teachings of Christianity, that is why it bothers me that we cannot co-exist. Ofcourse as a Christian I would be happy if everyone was also my same religion, however I respect people's beliefs and try to understand them rather than comdemn it. If we conflict on certain areas then that is life, if I was to be angry at every being who did not share my views then I would surely be alone. I think that it is part of a Christian/Moral trait to be this way. As for your comment on the deaths, I acknowledge that however that is not a matter I am too educated on, I do however know that we have the British army who have killed and raped many innocent citizens of Islamic countries. Our more developed countries are much more able to cover up our sins. "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone."(Original post by Elipsis)

Re: What do you think about #TurnToIslam trending worldwide on Twitter?
It's actually quite refreshing to see islam in popular culture without it being attached to terrorism, turbans or Al-Qaeda. I'm an Atheist, but I actually feel uneasy with the incredible propaganda against muslims in media, even on the BBC.
For example; as soon as the Norway shootings happened with Breivik, the assumption was made in the media that he was a muslim, as no one had confirmed who he was. However, it was then clear he wasn't an extremist muslim and he said in court a few weeks ago, he said "I am an extremist Christian." I, still have not seen this quote on the BBC or in any newspaper. If it was a muslim, he would be introduced in every paper as "The extremist Muslim, Anders Breivik..."
I think there's a lot of Islamophobia in today's world, and it's even worse in America. -
Re: What do you think about #TurnToIslam trending worldwide on Twitter?I know, I assure you I did not intend for my thread to end up this way. People have read it wrong and started a battle, I just wanted to see whether people felt it would cause uproar or not be a problem (the trend that is)!(Original post by GrowingNinja)
Must EVERYTHING muslims do be criticised? They created a trend on twitter thats it, no need for a discussion and no need to attract the islamophobic scum on this forum.

Re: What do you think about #TurnToIslam trending worldwide on Twitter?I did not imply that you should hate Muslims. It is not their fault they were born into a cult after all. I believe the old adage is "hate the sin, love the sinner". I hate murder, I don't hate all murderers. Islam and Mohammed have deliberately dragged away billions of people from the right path onto the wrong path. Islam is a poor mirror of Christianity, and it really shows when you look at Islamic societies/countries.(Original post by JaquelleSade)

Re: What do you think about #TurnToIslam trending worldwide on Twitter?I don't really care what anyone preaches, so long as its not being forced on others, and they don't then criticise other preachers.
Spoiler:ShowEDIT: I do laugh when the Muslim neg brigade come out. They never have any rep to do anything to my rep (as
if I'd shut up by being neg repped), and its as if they want to silence free speech.Last edited by Alpharius; 15-05-2012 at 23:04.
