    C2 Arithmetic Series Question!
    Please can someone help to solve this for me:

    I can do all of the question before but i don't know what to do hear and what that E sign means

    Its called "summa", means the sum of...

    In general you sum starting from the term on the bottom (1) to the term on the top (40). In this case you are summing U_n which is an arithmetic sequence. So what this is saying is what is the sum of the first 40 terms of your arithmetic sequence?
