Cycling from UCL to Guy's Campus (the shard)

Doing medicine at KCL, guy's campus next year, about 3 miles from UCL and the intercollegiate hall, connaught hall which I like the look of. Just wondering how long it takes to cycle between the two, and if its a nice ride / dangerous etc?

The alternative is to get the bus, but it takes about 30 mins each way assuming its not late and would also have to buy a weekly bus pass which are like £13 each week.

Was also wondering if being 30 minutes away from halls would be an issue like socially?

Any help would be great!

Thanks

This is the route - https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Borough+High+St%2FA3&daddr=Bedford+Way&hl=en&ll=51.510078,-0.099049&spn=0.045673,0.132093&sll=51.512028,-0.111558&sspn=0.011418,0.033023&geocode=FVvnEQMdPaH-_w%3BFa4yEgMdcgj-_w&t=h&mra=ltm&z=14

That route isn't too bad - mostly big wide roads. Just have your wits about you and don't do anything stupid especially at crossings or junctions and you should be fine. Besides once you get to know the area better you can figure out how to avoid the really busy sections. Biking is surprisingly quick, it will probably be about a 20 minute journey from connaught to Guy's.

Socially it shouldn't make too much difference providing you talk to people within your halls and make sure you go to course socials - it might just happen that when you do things with Kings people you have to crash at someone else's. The only other thing I can think of is that in Freshers week you might have to hunt around your hall a bit to find other students from KCL who are going to KCL-only Freshers events.
