    i was wondering if there was a limit to the amount of societies you can join when you start uni..

    There's no official limit - but in practical terms, there will be a limit to how many you can keep up, whilst still doing your uni work, and not having them clash with each other. For most people, depending on how intensive a society is (some of them you'll be doing stuff with them 6 days a week, others once a fortnight), the limit will be between one and three.
