Thanks for the workout. Can u work mine out. these are my current marks:
42/50, 39/50, 32/40 (coursework).
Can u work out what i need to get in my C7 exam tomorow to get an A.

Ok! :P

To get an A you need 240 UMS Points in total (everything)

For the exams you got 81/100 UMS

For coursework you got 82.5/100 UMS

So far this equates to 163.5/200 UMS

To get an A you need 76.5 UMS points In C7 to just get an A overall

so you need to score a High B grade to get an A.

Hi,

Firstly on the matter of coursework, I know that you will be needing a raw mark of 38 for an a*, definitely not 34. That will be a high b/a. This is due to the high amount of students achieving.

38, that's impossible there is no way 38 can - 90 (A*).

Who's prepared?
Do you need to know and recall the steps of a quantitative analysis?

'Bhavvvv' is right

Since you got good marks, you should be getting an A* so:

To get an A*, which is 270 UMS Marks overall to get:

For the exams you got : 91/100 UMS
For the Coursework you got: 85/100 UMS

So far you have : 176 UMS points

So in C7, you need to score 94 UMS points, which is a Mid A* in order to get an A* overall.

I know, my chemistry teacher said my coursework was fine for an a*. So did my biology teacher when i got 31. Thanks to them i can only get an A in biology and have to get a load in the chemistry to get an A*. Biology works the same i guess?

Sorry to ask, but I got 50/50, 46/50 (I think) and around 36/40 which will give me 132 marks in total so far. How many UMS points is that?

Hi,

Firstly on the matter of coursework, I know that you will be needing a raw mark of 38 for an a*, definitely not 34. That will be a high b/a. This is due to the high amount of students achieving.

Here are some questions one of my teachers made:

What are plasticisers?

What other additives can be added to plastics?

Explain how plasticisers work in reducing a plastics density.

Why are countries reducing the amount of phthalates in children's toys?

What are polymers?

What are polymers made from and are they sustainable?

The study into the dangers of Phthalates is inconclusive. How would you improve a study to give a more conclusive result?

Banning phthalates from children's toys is an example of the ALARA principle. Explain what this means?

Plastics cause a lot of waste. Name 3 ways it can be dealt with.

Phthalates are a form of esters. Give an example of how esters are made.

Here are questions from another teacher:

What is a polymer?

Draw a diagram to illustrate the process of polymerisation.

Why are substances called plasticisers added to polymers?

How do plasticisers work? Draw a diagram to illustrate your answer.

Which type of plasticisers have research studies investigated?

What has been the outcome of these studies?

Why do you think the use of this group of plasticisers has been banned in production of some items but not others?

Explain the meaning of the term 'diffuse'?

How do the phthalates in the plastics get to contaminate food, soil and air?

What tests have been used to detect phthalates in the human body.

Why would some people argue that phthalates do not present a risk to human health?

Summarise the results obtained in the survey of pregnant women.

Why might some scientists say that more evidence is needed to support the conclusion that there is a link between phthalates and the type of play exhibited by young children?

What other factors might affect the type of play preferred or chosen by children and families?

'The evidence against them would be conflicting and inconclusive'. What does this statement mean?

Describe the different viewpoints of the scientist.

What does toxicity mean?

Why did the second scientist think that the risk of toxicity was low?

Suggest why the first scientist believes the plasticisers do present a possible risk to health.

What is another disadvantage of using plasticisers in plastics?

What have scientists discovered that could allow plastics to be safer and last longer?

How does this discovery stop the plasticisers diffusing into the environment?

What is your view? Should plasticisers be banned completely?

Hope that helps.

You are wrong. 38/40 in the CWK will never equate to 90 UMS. My advice to you is to learn what UMS is, before you make suggestions on this.
thanks for the free q's though

Its not 132 UMS, as your coursework mark is in raw format, not UMS.

So far your UMS is : 191/200

So for C7, you need to score 79 UMS, which is a High B to get an A* overall :P
