"If in doubt, differentiate!" it works lol! and i hope straight lines, vectors and optimization comes up
extremely good chance for all 3 !

I was thinking that a more difficult recurrence relation questions might come up. Typically it's just a simple 'why does this relationship have a limit... What's the limit' but when my teacher was going over recurrence relations she did more difficult examples where finding the limit was inexplicitly asked for. I've just gone back over them in case.

Also has anybody else done locus?

Last year (2011) the circle question was a wordy one and it was the last question. So this year do you think it will be a diagram one?
Sadly I am thinking vectors or a big optimisation for the last question
I don't think they'll do a circle question cause it was in it last year, so high chances it will be an optimisation or vectors question

    Just compared 2008 - 2011 paper 2 last question:

    2008 - Calculate shaded area (8 marks)
    2009 - Vectors (10 marks)
    2010 - Logs (6 marks)
    2011 - Circle (9 marks)

Locus- The path traced out by a point as it moves according to a rule or set of conditions?

Isn't that basically an f(x)=....... equation?

2009 was vectors 2010 was logs and 2011 was circles, possibly a curve question to finish ? or maybe optimisation, wouldnt mind either

Hopefully that means it defiantly wont be circles and logs :P

only problem is the first part of optimization

circles are my enemy, but if a log question came up i'd prefer that, either way easy marks can be picked up eg putting centre, radius, or actually just rearranging log etc

hey guys, just new to this i have an awful habit of getting all panicked and stressed in that hall ; its scary ! i feel that lots of water and a grip on the time helps me, and telling myself to answer EVERY question. you dont get marks for blank, but you might get 1 or 2 mks for a guess my teacher says, "if in dounbt, differentiate" , so just do that !! good luck
lol thats a good tip..i tend to do that in the multiple choice

Locus isn't a question :/ it's just a fact really and is more covered at Adv. higher is what my teacher said

nah . i just roll with "at f'(x) sps = 0" . you get a mark for that

    mmmm, bug related maths
As long as the questions are obvious in what they want i'll be fine

Does anybody think it is more worth while focusing on past papers 2008-2011 or focus on 2003-2011?

You know that P is on the x axis. Therefore y=0 and if you substitute that into the equation of the line you get 6x+18=0 and therefore x=-3. So the answer is (-3,0)
